Superb concert. Very nice to see a good turn out for the veena concert.
The todi was raju vedala
Baghyatha was played in Sri - not madyamavati.

Quite a blessing to the rasika that EG is reappearing on the stage nowadays. Undisputably the best vainika today. Unfortunately due to overexposure to the stage from childhood, she has completely lost interest in accepting concerts. I went for her concert at Odakathur mutt sometime back- but she just did not turn up! Last minute replacement - Ashok Ramani- if my memory serves right.

But when she does play it is simply Gaanaamrutha.

Totally agree - It definitely is a blessing to the rasikas that Smt Gayathri has started performing again. Her blog has some information about her absence from concerts. In one of the posts from last october (I think ), she has opened her heart out and written about what prompted her to start playing her veena again. I am pleased she is back. I have never attended her LIVE concerts. I live in hope

Believe me- It is an ethereal experience. Absolute tonal purity, beauty in sangathis and total ease of playing.
Another all time great Sri.Balachandar is better heard thro' recordings. It was strenuous to watch him play- just an off-hand comment- not to criticize the genius.
