Lji off the top of my head, a couple of corrections, I think there is at least one more - C1: cittinai (awareness/consciousness) a-cittuDan (with the unknown/unconsciousness) iNaittAi...

Re: Lyrics please for ettanai kOti inbam - bharathiyar
S-P here you go - very typical of bhArati - a paean of so few words that has deep and seemingly impenetrable meaning.
pallavi
ettanai kOTi inbam vaittAi engal iRaivA iRaivA iRaivA
Oh lord (IraivA) of ours (engaL), how many (ettanai) crores (kOTi) of delights (inbam) have you created (vaittAi) for us?
caraNam 1
cittinai acittuDan iNaittAi angu shErum aim bhUtattu viyal ulagamaittAi
attanai ulagamum varNak-kaLanjiyamAga pala pala nal vazhakkugaL shamaittAi
Utilizing the five (aim) elements (bhUdattu) that arose (SErum) from/at the spot (angu) you fused (iNaittAi) the conscious (cittinai) with (uDan) the un-conscious (acittu), you created (amaittAi) worlds (ulagam) of great vastness (viyal). You established (SamaittAi) several (pala pala) excellent (nal) customs (vazhakkugaL) that decreed all (attanai) those worlds (ulagamum) to become treasuries (kaLanjiyamAga) of color/character (varNa).
caraNam 2
muktiyenoru nilai shamaittAi angu muzhudinaiyum uNarvamaittAi
bhaktiyenroru nilai vaghuttAi engaL paramA paramA paramA
You established (SamaittAi) a (oru) state (nilai) that (enru) symbolized deliverance from worldly ties (mukti), and in that (angu) state, you made it possible (amaittAi) for one to experience/contemplate (uNara) everything in its entirety (muzhidinaiyum). Oh Supreme lord (paramA), you assigned (vakuttAi) a special state (nilai) called (enru) devotion (bhakti) for us to aspire for.
A whole treatise can be written on the interpretation of the phrase from the first caraNam 'cittinai acittuDan inaittAi' - it can be taken to symbolize the fusion of matter and anti-matter and the energy that comes out from that is probably enough to have created several worlds...
Alternately, it can mean the coming together of conscious and sub-conscious thoughts - a state of trance which is clearly a state of altered energy levels...
The purpose of yOga as I understand it is for the subconscious to be aroused (as the coiled, potential energy of the kuNDalini), and rise and pierce through and unite with the conscious - and Siva was/is the supreme yOgi...
I hope that others will chime in as well.

Ravi,
Yes, one of bArati's greats.
In tamizh, ettanai kODi rather than kOTi sounds right.
viyanulagamaittAi: virinda, paranda (vast) world you created.; viyanulagu can also mean heaven, and here it can also mean that this beautiful world seems like heaven to bArati, with all the beauty and joy he sees in it.
muzhudinaiyum uNarum uNarvamaittAi is how I know the line.

In the lyrics (posts 2 & 5 ) sherum and shamaithAi should be sErum and samaithAi. There is no need for the letter "h" in both instances. Yes, Arasi, it should be "muzhudinayum uNarum uNarvamaithAi".

>>pala pala nal vazhagugaL shamaittAi<<
It is neither "vazhagugaL" nor "vazhakkugaL"
The actual line is :
pala pala nal lazhagugaL samaittAy
nallazhagugaL (நலà¯à®²à®´à®•à¯à®•ளà¯) is the compound word.
( you created all the worlds in glorious colors and tremendous beauty)
Perhpas Lakshman got misled by the similarity between the Thamizh letters "la" (ல) and "va" (வ)
Rajkumar Bharathi (great-grandson (?) of the poet) did an excellent rendition of this song in the rAgam dEsh.

Yes, nallazhagugaL samaittAi.
I have not heard the dES version but we used to sing it in dhanyAsi which suited the mood and the sense of wonder in the song.

Listen to ettanai kODi inbam by RKB in dESh here:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/rj8zeb
It reflects the pathos inherent in the song. It is a simultaneous expression of relief and pleasure.

Enjoyed RKB's rendition. Thanks, mahakavi.
I get the feel of the wonder the poet/composer has for the Lord, when he sums up in iraivA iraivA iraivA....paramA paramA paramA.
