maaturaasishaa vandita bhuvi
santhi hi naro nandita divi

One becomes respected in this world and happy in the other world only by gaining mother’s blessings.

dhaarithosmyaham svodare tvaya
paalithosmyaham svasthanae tvaya

You maintained me in the womb and nourished me with your milk.

sisuraham yadaa kaelilampatah
na srutham mayaa tae tadaa vachah

In my childhood, being attracted to toys, I didn’t pay attention to your words.

sikshanae mama na cha kadaa ruchih
saa tvayaa kruthaa vardhitaa matih

I had no interest in learning, but you created the interest in me and developed my intellect.

baalavartanam kashtadaayakam
manyasae tu tad harshakaaranam

Even though a child’s actions cause much pain, you look upon these as a source of joy!

rogapeeditho yatkadaapyaham
saevasae tadaa maamaharnisham

Whenever I am sick, you nurse me day and night.

vismaraamyaham tae katham krutham
matkruthae sadaa praemasamyutham

How can I ever forget all that is done by you with so much affection?

pashyasi gunam sarvadaa mama
avagunam tu mae naekshasae katham

You always see my virtues (good qualities), but how come you never see my vices (bad ones)?

iyamudaarataa tvayi cha vartatae
naetharatra saa jagati drusyate

This large-heartedness exists only in you, and is not seen anywhere else in the world.

durlabhaa na hi baandhavaa bhuvi
janani durlabhaa tvatsamaa ayi

Relatives and friends are easy to find in the world, but it is indeed difficult to get a mother like you.

maatrudaevo yad bhava sruthischa tat
braveetyaadaraad bhaavayepyaham

I have heard “Be devoted to mother like you would to God”, and I do follow the same.

maatari naro daevameekshatae
sarvatopi tam sa hi nireekshatae

(S)He who sees God in (her) his own mother, (s)he alone sees God everywhere as well.

atha mayaarchanam vandanam krutham
tava cha keertanam paadasaevanam

Hence, I worship and salute you now, sing your glories and serve your feet.

janani taepyaham sarvadaa runee
bhaktirastu nae nischala tvayi

O mother, I remain forever indebted to you. May my devotion to you be firm and deep!

amba tvaamaham pranatavaansadaa
aasishascha tvam daehi mae mudaa

O mother, I remain forever prostrated before you. Give me your blessings gladly.

All the mothers on the forum thank you for bringing this to our attention!
As for me, this lovely song makes a third Mothers Day this year. I happened to be in the UK in March on Mothers Day (they celebrate it early). So, this makes three!
