The brothers gave an excellent concert.The entire team enthralled us on the auspicious day of Akshaya Thrithiya at Sri Ranganatha temple here in Pomona.
The concert was loaded with a vast variety of compositions on Lord Vishnu and His Avataars.The support provided by the accompanying artists was of high quality.I was totally soaked in the shower of some great music.
RTP was the most commendable chunk of the concert as it was an impromtu effort.The pallavi lines were given on the spot to the brothers by the senior Vidhwan Mannargudi Eeshwaran .They were praised by him for their spontaneous rendition of the pallavi lyrics.The pallavi lines were
"Naathanai Ninai Maname Brindaavana Sri Ranganaathanai"

I have always felt that while the duo lack popularity they have incredible vidwat! The song list and pallavi exercise illustrate this point.
If they can sharpen up their vocalisation to make it a little easier on they ears and stage friendly im sure they would be sought after artists.

Yes, it was a 4 hour concert.The main being the pallavi in Brindaavani,they did sing an elaborate aalapana in Reethigowla and Hamsanadham.

The Brindaavani was very pleasing... And they did sing lots of rasikas requests. The rapport amongst the accompanists was also very good!

The concert was well appreciated by the ardent devotees of Sri.Ranganatha who frequently come to the temple as well as many musicians in the audience itself. That is a rare combination. That ability exists only with certain musicians and certainly K.N.Shashikiran and P.Ganesh are one of those.
By the way, the violinist's name is Arun Ramamurthy.

There are two rAma rAma's by dAsaravAru. rAma rAma rAma rAma rAma ennirO nema dinda bhajisuva vara kAmitagaLa koDuvanAmA (vasantha) and rAma rAma rAma rAma rAma ennirO amarapatiya divyanAma andu odagadO (tilang). Lalgudi Jayarama I think plays both the songs.

Good to hear such nice things spoken about the concert of the brothers in the Ranganatha temple.
If I am not mistaken, the pallavi line is GuruvAyUr Dorai's creation. Of course, Mannargudi Easwaran would have played for this pallavi in a concert (s), would have liked it and might have suggested it to the brothers because of the aptness in its being presented in Sri RanganAthA temple.

I knew there are two rAma rAma rAma rAma rAma ennirO in vasanthA and thilang . I just heard a recording of suryaprakash radio recording , incidentally he sings "rAma rAma rAma rAma ennirO nema dinda bhajisuva vara kAmitagaLa " in thilang (not vasantA) . It looks being PD there are many variations even for the same lyrics.

As such thanks to point out about the two lyrics . I did not know that they were two different krithis , that was a revelation. I have not noticed after ennirO for any variation of lyrics .

Looks like the previous post of me thinking that there are two krithis is incorrrect.This is just one krithi with multiple charanams , incidentally there are two anupallavis .

Isn't this ragam already on the books with the name Sallapam? Why are we calling it Soorya? Just as a contrast to Purnachandrika?

Arasi was right..While they were singing ragam brindavani, i thought of this pallavi lyrics of Sri Guruvayur Durai sir, and i told the brothers that these words would be apt for that concert because of the venue..and those were not my own words..

I have a recording of TNS where he has sung rAma rAma in shubhapantuvarALi and it sounds very close to hindustani lalit.
