minor corrections:
sEvaDi (not sevvaDi)
paDaipOr (not paDaiyOr)
tiNtOL can also be written as tiNTOL (pr closer to tiNDOL)

Sridhar - tiN-tOL maNivaNNa means the 'dark-hued one with mighty/strong shoulders', right? In keeping with his prowess in wrestling (mallANDa) as he destroyed the evil cANUra, right? (In Sri OVK's description, 'malla viSArada madhusUdanA')

Re: lyrics periyazhwar song....
Spot on Ravi. tintOL = tiNNiya + tOL, strong shoulders. Vishnu wrestled mushTikAsura and cAnUra, as mentioned by OVK in the swAgatam kRshNa song. The story goes that periyAzhwAr, concerned about perumAL, wants no harm to come to Him and sings pallANDu as a protective hymn. PerumAL, amused at AzhwAr's undue concern, shows him his strength with a display of the strong shoulders that wrestled the asuras. This only makes periyAzhwAr more worried; the simile employed here is of a mother's concern for her strong and valiant son: she keeps worrying that her son, being so strong, is ever unmindful of enemies and is wont to bring more danger upon himself through fights. So periyAzhwAr sings the second stanza "aDiyOmODum ninnODum pirivu inRi" continuing the theme of wishing Him longevity (pallANDu).

Wonderful explain Sridhar. Reminds me of SrI maNavALa mAmuni's words "pongum parivAlE villiputtur paTTarpirAn peRRAn periyAzhvAr ennum peyar" (Due to his "overflowing" concern for perumAL, viSNuchittar got the name periyAzhvAr.
