Even the ultimate 'being in love with just falling in love' Orsino considered just 'music' to be the food of love, not the musician!
As kedharam says, one's love affair with music needn't end at all. I would go one step further and say whatever music is to one--spiritual, elevating, calming, entertaining--there are many of them out there to adore, in heaven and on earth whose music we can fall in love with over and over again.
Otherwise, we wouldn't be so passionate about CM.
CM is not rock music or cinema and we are not teenagers who idolize performers and delude themselves into thinking that they are in love with those who bring to them entertainment which they love! If one got such an impression by experiencing such a thing, I would say that in that instance, music took a back seat--bad example ;) and human frailties took over. Then again, for such a thing, music needn't be around at all.
