He surprised me with Ethavunnara as soon as I hit the seat but it was also strangely apt-also the first 3 songs ended up being a tribute to the Trinity. We were just discussing before the concert that it would be a real pleasure to hear TMK sing Parvati Ninnune-a little bird must have told him-sadly there is no recording! Sri Ramam - both vocal and violin were outstanding in the raga alapanai and swarams. By the time TMK had sung Saveri ragam comfortably in 3 sthayis, I had my money's worth. The rare Syama Shastri kirtanam 'Dhuru Sukha' was great to hear followed by a great Thani by Easwaran Sir.

In RTP ragam and pallavi, both TMK and Shriramkumar were vying for applause and the mridangam was also seriously good. The requests were flowing in right from word Go. TMK tried to accomodate some by including the ragas in the ragamalika swaras. He sang a length of the 'SPMR' swaram in Nattai since 'Jagadanandaka' was requested.

Again, the surprise in Chinnan chiru which has been retuned beautifully. There were many 'Sigh-no recording' moments in the concert. All in all, an electrifying concert. But you expect nothing less from this trio.

6) Mahakule Theriyaleru - Rishabapriya
/quote]

It must be 'Mahatmule theliyaleru' - one of Mysore Vasudevacharya's
master pieces.

I think you have gotten confused between bArE pANDurangA (miSra mAND) and ranga bArO pANDuranga bArO (durgA/mAND). The former is by sant tukArAm and the latter by purandaradAsar. The former was the one extensively popularized by Smt. MS. The latter is often sung by Smt. AS. :)

Ranga Baro was in Mand by Purandara Dasar. Yes, Mahathmule (thanks for the correction) was a Mysore Vasudevachar kriti.
