Annamacharya kritis
I've been listening to Kasim & Babu's nadaswaram performances in a CD (Album?) titled "Srinivasam".
The contents of the CD are Annamacharya Kritis.
There is this one tune which I am unable to find online - may be I am using the incorrect transliterated search string..?
Anyway... I suppose the lyrics contains lines like... "... kooda vihaara... Jaya Kothandaraama..."
Can anyone tell me what song it is... I have heard it sung by MS and Sudha Raghunathan... The frustrating this is that the compèrer does not mention what song is about to be played. Pity...
Nonetheless, I'd appreciate your help.
Thanks!

Thanks!

Are you sure you don't mean "sreeranga pura vihaara, jaya kOdanDa raamavataara", the Dikshitar krithi in Brindavana Saranga?

I guess that's the one, then. Is that the name of the song?
But are you certain it isn't an Annamayya kriti? That's what was mentioned by the compèrer in the CD...
Thank you for the kind clarification...

Kasim and Babu hail from Srirangam, the adopted domicile of their grandfather Sangeetha Kalanidi Sheik Chinna Maulana. "Srirangapura vihara..." (MD; brindavana saranga) is one of their favorite kritis which they play often.
By the way annamAcArya never sang about Srirangam (I may be corrected if I am wrong). His passion was only VenkatEswara of tirumalai.

He may have, although I can't think of any well known keertana. But for sure, he did not sing only about venkaTESwara, there are many keertanas on Narasimha, Krishna, Raama, Hanuman, Garuda and of course, Alivelu Manga.mahakavi wrote: By the way annamAcArya never sang about Srirangam (I may be corrected if I am wrong). Of course, one expects the parivar (avatars) of Vishnu to find place in annamAcArya kritis. The AzhwArs too do not make a distinction between Krishna and Vishnu or other avatArs.
Alivelu Manga -----> Do you mean alamElu manga (in Thamizh it is alar mEl mangai)?

But Lord Ranganathaswamy at Srirangam is Vishnu!mahakavi wrote: Of course, one expects the parivar (avatars) of Vishnu to find place in annamAcArya kritis. The AzhwArs too do not make a distinction between Krishna and Vishnu or other avatArs.
I'm not going to get into this discussion .. google "alivelu manga" and you'll see that it is a commonly accepted Telugu rendering of the name. If you prefer the other variant, fine!mahakavi wrote: Alivelu Manga -----> Do you mean alamElu manga (in Thamizh it is alar mEl mangai)?

Of course! For that matter if a composer sings about a deity in one kshEtram it does not mean he sang about the same or parallel deities in other kshEtrams. annamAcArya sang about the Lord (and his retinue) at tirumalai. To my knowledge he did not sing about Lord Ranganatha at Srirangam. If you can provide direct evidence against it please do so.

He has even sung about tirukacchi varada in vandE vAsudEvam as karipuranAtha. He has composed extensively on ahObila narasimhar since his AchAryan, AdivaN SaTakOpa yatIndra mahAdESikan was the tiruvAradakar (pUjAri) for mAlOlan of ahObilam. One of my favorite songs set to toDi is navanArasimhA namO namO.

Yes Mahakavi. You are correct.
Also check songs 745 and 746. May be two variations of the same song. But still on ranganAthan.
