School inspiring children to musical instruments

Post by sramesh »

A School in Madurai is engaging children in music and also in musical instarument s of all varieties even in veena, is really wonderful and a role model to all other schools throughout the world involving veena also from 2nd std, those students definitely shine colourfully in future as the music is a pleasurefull harmony

Mr.sramesh:
Pl mention the name of the school, its programs in education as well as music including the curriculum and the level of proficiency of the students when they leave the school. Also include the names of music instructors. Let others decide if it is wonderful or role model etc. The future will take care of itself. Thank you.

the school have been in this city for more than 30 years producing lot of intellectual students like Doctors, Engineers, musicians etc, the students completing the educations would always been an alrounder in all aspects basically well mannered and behaving with public etc,

You are being evasive. Are you not confident about the school? Do you own the school or are you one of the teachers?
Just an extraneous thought. Doctors, musicians and engineers are not intellectuals by virtue of their training in schools and colleges. If some of them are considered intellectuals either they are born that way or they develop into such on their own through other means. A teacher cannot produce an intellectual. Intellect is an innate property of an individual. A teacher may be able to polish it perhaps but not produce it.

OK, I am not going to be in this cat and mouse game. I asked you a simple question. You turn your back at me and murmur something (like they do in Thamizh movies) which I am not able to hear, let alone understand.

Mahakavi,
What do you expect? A sudden transformation in him so that he stops murmuring and starts answering your questions with clarity? Though he did not say it, he could be an intellectual too like the students from that school. If it is attention he's seeking, he's getting plenty of it--just like the star performers ;)

I saw some headline about a school where everybody gets music lessons, not just an option. Didn't see where or what school. Was just browsing the paper, may read later.

One of my great disappointments in my own education: I was put out of the music class because I couldn't sing. I was not given the chance to learn an instrument, or even study the theory. Very sad.

Nick,
We here in the west are wilting in the heat and are going bonkers! You, tayir sAdam-eating (I'm quoting r_t), Chennai weather-resistant resident tamizhan ;) assume your zen state easily (well, most of the time!). Tamizh nADu's gain, England's loss :(

Fellow rasikas, did you notice sramesh is greeting my spouse too. I have no doubt sramesh is taking us all for a ride. sramesh is a pro in this game. Let us enjoy the ride anyway.
OK, sramesh, tell us about all about the instruments you are using to give instruction to the 2nd through 9th grade students.

Some other initiatives

Our own Niyers initiative in Bangalore about which I wrote elsewhere today
Nice bit of news.
Two of my friends in Bangalore run a school ” Swarohan” for village kids at their home- on Sarajapur road. One is a Carnatic singer and the other, Hindusthani. Both of them fit their classes early in the morning since they are busy IT professionals.
Kids walk from villages as far 3-4 kms away , to attend classes , as early as 5 AM.
I got goosebumps when I went to visit them to hand over some music for their archives.
They are a shy bunch and accept very small sums for Life membership. Please write to them at [email protected] for more.
