Awesome concert by Hyderabad Brothers
Was lucky to attend an outstanding concert by Hyderabad brothers at Tattvaloka, Eldams Road, Chennai..
The thodi pallavi was great!
Wish I had written down the song list! Would be helpful if someone else filled it in..
The accompanists Nagai Sriram, KV Prasad and KVGopalakrishnan did great as well!

Hyderabad Br0thers Concert on July 25, 2010 at Tatvaloka Organized by Bharathiya Sangeetha Vaibhavam Trust, Chennai.
List of Items:
1. Tharuni – Kambhoji – Adi Tala Varnam
2. Giriraja Sutha – Balahamsa – Thyagaraju -Adi
3. Inthanuchu Varnimpa – Gundakriya – Thyagaraju - Adi . A brief ragaalapana (ragam name announced by Sri Seshachary)
4. Jalaja Nabha – Ranjani – Annamacharya - Adi. Raga alapana started by Sri Seshachary and continued by Sri Raghava Chary with excellent sancharas and that was fantastic
5. Thodi RTP with Pallavi “Thyagarajaaaya Namaste – Sadguru Sri†- Adi Talam
6. Narayana Ninna – Sudha Dhanyani – Purandara Dasa. – Khanda Chapu
7. Ayyo Vibhudu – Kedara Gowla – Dharmapuri Javali - Adi
8. Karpagame – Madhya Maavathi – Papanasam Sivan - Adi, an emotional and intense raga alapana and krithi rendition by Sri Sesha Chary
9. Mangalam.
For RTP, Sri Sesha Chary started the pallavi ‘Thyagarajaaaya Namaste – Sadguru Sri†that was excellent and appropriate on the day of Guru Poornima. His alapana was simply superb with a great innovation in Thanam and Ragamalika Swarakalpana in Neelambari, Saveri and Sivaranjani. Equally exciting to the audience was Sri Raghavacahari’s Mohana followed by Sivaranjani, a dangerous attempt with only one note difference -, Gandharam. Proves their vidwath that requires tremendous command and confidence.
Thani by Sri KV Prasad and Sri KV Gopalakrishnan in response to the vocalists was equally great so as Sri Nagai Sriram’s violin. Audience could feel the energy on the stage. The entire concert was really enjoyable.

Hey narayana,
How could you leave out Dikshithar's incomparable kriti `sadachaleshwaram' from your list? Despite having heard other versions, I always associate it with the Hyderabad brothers who render a fantastic version. And they also sang a lovely Ritigowlai kriti `satguru swamiki' by Tyagaraja. Sri Sesha chary preceded it with a neat , elegant alapana. The thodi alapana had some sparkles and brilliant touches in it.
nagai sriram's violin playing was really good. The tonal beauty of the violin was very enjoyable. It was the first time i heard KV Gopalakrishnan play kanjira. His enthusiasm and talent will take him places i am sure.

sadAcalEsvaram, yes.
Ever so many years ago, Hyderabad Brothers sang it in Connecticut (?). They were just getting to be known. They sang the song, and it never left me. Have heard a few others sing it, but the beauty of the song did shine in their singing.

Very nice to know the good performance of the brothers. They were a bit off-colour for some time, especially the elder brother (short person) when the younger ,taller brother had to work double hard to compensate. Their vidwat was never in question. Thanks for the review.

I apologize for missing couple of beautiful items, do not know how it happened. Guess I was too excited about Todi and the ragamalika.[update][/update]

Nice to see them performing together again, after a string of concerts where only Sri Seshachary performed alone.
Also good to see them sing an RTP, i think they hadnt sung an RTP in a concert for a long time...(atleast not that i know of..)

Sri Sesha chary.
I first thought it was like jaganmohini and was later told that it is gundakriya. A little bit of post concert research showed that there is a story behind this ragam. Hanuman supposedly sang this ragam to humble the boastful narada and the singing melted a stone!
I wonder who gave this `stone-melting' ragam such a ludicrous name!
