It was a good concert. The AlApanais of sAvEri and srI were both handled elegantly. The tODi was very good. The kritis were all rendered very well, with the right measure of bhavam and the necessary punches. The neraval and swarams were all done aptly. The choice of songs, as seen from the list above, did seem very different and nicely chosen.

The violinst was great and gave very fitting replies which in some places were more beautiful than the main artist himself. The mrudangist played in perfect tandem and embellished the whole concert with his timely and appropriate strokes.

Overall a very good and enjoyable concert by the spirited young man.

Bharath,
Given the kind of accompaniments, Prasanna ( I like his singing) would have been inspired to sing even better. This does not happen when we listen to younger performers during the season. Accomplished accompanists are far too busy then.
Varadarajan sounds sweeter every year.

For some reason I am very intrigued and pleased by the combination/choice of items in this presentation. Perhaps the fact that most of the pieces are unusual. Can someone educate me on the singer's background?

Icould not attend this concert. But I have heard this young man earlier and his music is quite impressive. The list looks great . Almost all songs are Semmangudi favourites. The Anandabhairavi varnam is rarely sung by others in the concert circuit. Similary, Balakrishnam Bhavayami.(I hear somebody telling TMK has sung this).All the Best to Prasanna.

Sri Prasanna Venkataraman is a disicple of Smt T R Balamani from bombay. he now learns from Sri T K Govinda Rao and Sri Sanjay in madras.
