Re: GNB Centenary Celebrations in Auckland: Radha Venkatacha
Few weeks before in one of the concerts, prof TRS made a passing mention that GNB day is not just celebrated in india and america , even in new zealand they are planning to celebrate. Now with this review I am connecting. I have personally not heard TRS's student Smt radha vEnkatachalam other than in a CD , where she and TRS talk and sing about "manOdharma sangeetham" . I could sense a lot of creative spark with Smt rAdha . I would love to hear this pallavi , kind of apt not just to GNB but also to subramaniam(TRS)

Prof Radha Venkatachalam is a very knowledgeable musician. It became evident as soon as she started her kalpana swarams for Hamsadwani. The whole concert was a great lesson to students of music on various combinations you can present in singing swarams and neraval. Her Raga alapanais for Reethigowlai, kanada and surutti were again examples on how to develop these vakra ragas into a big picture.
The whole concert being a GNB special was also unique-to hear so many unheard songs. Her RTP in Khanda thriputha, khanda Nadia with all the calculated swarams was a hallmark of the TRS school. I came away from the concert with Robert Frost's poem running in my head "And miles to go before I sleep"
