Dear Rasikas,
could you please help me to find out the Mudras for Droupathy, Alakshmi(Mudevi), then sister/Brother. if you could please help me with images it will be much more easy.
hope you didnt get the answers for your query. following may be helpful to you.
For Brother:
Elder Brother : need to show mayura hastham at level of shoulder then it is for elder brother
Younger Brother : mayura hastham at waist should be show ----------------------- (this is according to Abhinaya Darpana)
for brother we can even show as two tripataka hasthas one behind the other and kept in front.
For Droupathi:
show number five on left hand (fingers spread out) and the right hand should be in hamsasyam pointing the neck
( meaning lady having 5 husbands)
For sister:
Elder sister : Use patakachathura hastham between neck and shoulders (amsam)
Younger Sister : Use Ardha Mrigasheersha hastham ( This means if the anamika or ring finger in mrigasheersha hastham is sperated then it is ardha mrigasheersha hastham ) at the naval cavity (naabhi) ----------------------------------- According to Bharathaavarnam by nandikeshwara
I didnot understand what is mudevi ( is it sister of mahalakshmi that you are referring) if so i need to just check it and tell the mudra.
Hope you have got the information. If you feel its worng just get back to me.
Ardhamrigasheersha hastham means that apart from the little finger and thumb that are standing, from the other three fingers which are attached together and kept in horizontal position, the anamika or ring finger is separated and raised up. This is ardha mrigasheersha hastham as mentioned in bharataarnavam by nandikeshwara
Following is the sloka explaining pathakachathura hastha
Thank You Vamshee Krishna. I have never used ardha mrigasheersha in my life. But i understood it. It would be like katakamukha except the thumb is held upright like in mrighasheersha.
I still dont understand pathakachaturam. I am not that good at sankrit. Could u explain a little more clearly.
