Sri Palai.C.K.Ramachandran, a senior Carnatic vocalist started learning from renowned musician Sri. Kumarakom Bhaskara Menon when he was 8 years old. Later he went on to complete his diploma in music at Swati Tirunal Music College, Trivandrum, where he had the fortune of being taught by Sri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, the "Bheeshmacharya" of Carnatic music. He continued learning music in the traditional "Gurukulavasa" under Sri. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer for 10 years. He has accompanied Sri. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer for 40 years, in almost all his concerts, including his last concert at Chennai.

He has served as a Senior A-Grade vocalist in the Calicut station of All India Radio for 28 years. During his tenure, he used to conduct the very popular Classical Music program "Learn to Sing". Through this program, he tuned and popularized hundreds of Kritis of several composers including rare kritis and some very new kritis. He is a "Top Rank Grade" Carnatic Vocal Artist of All-India Radio.

He has performed in several venues around the world and has been the recipient of several awards including Academy Fellowship for classical Carnatic Vocal Music for 2009 by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy; Sri Kanchi Kamakodipeedam Asthana Vidwan Award; TTK Award for Carnatic Vocal Music by Madras Music Academy; etc
