The varnam was rendered as a pada varnam. I have heard only Chembai singing this as a pada varnam. They sang it very well. A brief sketch of Asaveri was given before the song. The song is a rare song and swaras at second kalam were sung for the song. Karaharapriya was rendered elaborately and the structure of the alapana was a pointer to the song to follow. The song was rendered very beautifully, with lot of feeling. The song was ornamented with second kalam swaras at the pallavi. Everybody was reminded of Semmangudi when we heard this song. An old rasika from the audience told at loud voice that Semmangaudi used to sing this exquisitely. To this Sivaraman sir took the mike and told I have played for Semmangdi singing this song. But after him it is sad that nobody sings this song. He further said that the brothers from Andhra have come to Tamil Nadu and render this tamil song and they need appreciation. When audience gave thier applause, he said idellam pothadu- innum perisa. Applause thundered.
After two fillers, Thodi was handled by both the brothers. It was rendered elaborately. Once the alapana was over, the same rasika from the audience told that we are reminded of great stalwarts like Ariyakudi and Alathur Siva subramania Iyer when we heard this Thodi alapana. The kriti and neraval at Shankha chakra gada and swars were real treat. The way Sivaraman Sir accompanied the songs itself was most enjoyable. The thani that followed was excellent. Our upcoming mridangists should never miss a chance to hear such thanis and assimilate the nuances. Sundar Kumar also played his role very well. The violin accompaniment was very appropriate. His ragas essays were well structured.
Altogether an enjoyable concert from the brothers as ever.

Mahakavi, Thanks for the correction. It was by oversight.
