Anuradha Sridhar's Trinity Center for Music 20th Anny Prog

Post by seemohan »

Dear Artists and Rasikas,

On 11 September 2010, Trinity Center for Music and guru Anuradha Sridhar (http://bit.ly/AnuFBi) will celebrate 20 years of excellence in Carnatic music with "Salutations to the Guru" (A Musical Tribute by Trinity students to all the Gurus in their lineage) in Palo Alto, California. For previews of this event, please see articles by Kalpana Mohan and Vidya Pradhan at http://bit.ly/Tr20IC and http://bit.ly/T20WNI The event poster is at http://bit.ly/T20Pos Facebook users can RSVP via the event page at http://bit.ly/T20FBe They can also leave comments on that page.

Since we are in an almost sold out situation with regard to tickets, those interested in attending the program need to contact the organizers as soon as possible (see poster or event page for contact information).

On 1 September 2010, the City of Saratoga honored Anuradha Sridhar, with a commendation certificate, for her Carnatic music teaching, performances and awards. Video: http://bit.ly/AnuSaV 17:50-28:08 min. Photos: http://bit.ly/AnuSaP

A glimpse from Trinity students' past performance: A video of 5 Trinity students performing "Shankara Srigiri", a composition of Swati Tirunal (1831-1846) in Raga Sohini, is at http://bit.ly/TrinV1

Good news on webcast of Trinity20's Salutations to the Guru

Post by seemohan »

Dear Rasikas and Artists,

We are very happy to let you all know that the Trinity20 program will be webcast in its entirety starting at about 3 PM Pacific Time on 11 September 2010. Please go to http://www.ustream.tv/channel/trinity-center-for-music for the webcast. We do realize that, unfortunately, the timing isn't good in India (starting about 3:30 AM on 12 September, Sunday). We would like request you to show your encouragement to all the performers, especially the youngsters, by watching this webcast. We would of course highly appreciate those who have bought the entry tickets to be at the event in person rather than watching the webcast.

For more info on Trinity20, please visit http://bit.ly/Tr20IC http://bit.ly/T20FBe

Thanks!
C. Mohan

Folks: Just received the invitation- a gorgeous one I might add--unfortunately I cannot go but looking at the packed 2-day event, this is an occasion --not to be missed--spoke to the Maestro--humble as usual--Ellam EEsan Cheyal was the typical refrain. The events are going to be webcast(details awaited from GJR--will post ASAP) and I understand there is going to be a charge(apparently the celebs are expected to cost around rs. 80 lakhs).

I am sure the locals would attend the function.

One thing I noticed about the invitation--Lalgudi Sir is honoring MSG,MSA and MC-violinists--I understand that he had first extended the invitation to TNK as well who declined due to prior commitments.

I have never seen a function that honors a particular individual taking the initiative to honor his peers-truly Lalgudi Sir is peerless.

When Lalgudi Sir took issue with the MA way back about not honoring violinists(Sangita Kalanidhi), he was misconstrued as canvassing for himself--NOTHING COULD BE FARTHER THAN THE TRUTH--he was the one who suggested MSG.

Anyway, I am sure I can look forward to the forumites report on the festivities.
I noticed that the same day--Sept 19, Radha Bhaskar is arranging a function to honor MSV--Could this clash of events have been avoided?
