A grand first anniversary celebrations of MAITHREEM BHAJATHA

Post by jbsruthisagar »

The 50th episode celebrations of “Maithreem Bhajatha” or rather the first anniversary celebrations began with a fitting rendering of its title song Maithreem Bhajatha by over five hundred school children from Sankara group of schools, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Group, Kola Perumal & Kola Saraswathi & Chettinad Vidyashram. It was such a divine experience that the guests and the audience present gave a standing ovation to the presentation. With Mannarkoil Balajai & Ghatam Dr. Karthick accompanying the rendition, this turned out to be the highlight of the function.

Soon followed a brief but meaningful function which carried a power presentation by Dr. Sunder, the Convenor and man behind Music Fourm & Maithreem Bhajatha on the various activities of Music Forum and the journey of Maithreem Bhajatha. A beautiful documentary featuring snippets of the various topics discussed over the fifty episodes was very well received by the audience. Shri. N. Murali President the Music Academy & Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt. R.Vedavalli whole heartedly appreciated the efforts of Dr. Sunder and congratulated him for the great work he had been doing.

Then followed a full bench orchestral rendition of Bhajagovindam by Dr.Sunder which kept the audience spell bound through out the 40 minutes. The rendition included all the 31 stanzas.

A fitting finale was provided by a grand concert by Sri. T.M.Krishna and party.

It was indeed a musical evening.

Enjoyed the soulful rendering of Bhaja Govindam by Dr.Sundar & party.THe interlude music between stanzas were really good and JBSS was very good on flute.

The following concert by TMK was good too.Enjoyed his 3 full octave svaram singing for the Bahudhari kriti. Only a few people can sing like that and this is the first time I am hearing a CM vocalist doing that which can materialize only out of asura sadhakam.Hats off to TMk. The Kharaharapriya song which was sung in a very slow speed ( athi vilmba kalam ) was soul stirring and Balaji's soft touches on the mridhangam (literally sounded like a tabla) made it sound like a HM vilambit piece.RKSS was at his best throughout.
