It was a wonderful exploration of srI rAgam and the AlApanai and the tAnam were much enjoyable. The kriti was rendered beautifully with a grand round of swarams. The sAmA kriti was nicely rendered as well.

I second arasi's request.
SrI rAga tAnam that too on vINa........ If I were the king of some kingdom, I would have given it to the vidvAn.

ksrimech, in many vina concerts, the artiste plays tanam in the ghana raga pancaratnam set (Nattai, ..., Sri), so tanam in Sri is not that rare, per se. The effect is very good, and I'm sure this concert too would have been worth hearing, but unless you have many kingdoms to give, you may want to hold on to it?!ksrimech wrote: SrI rAga tAnam that too on vINa........ narayan,
I haven't heard a single veena concert live. Secondly, I have very little recordings of veena artistes. The best I have enjoyed is Kalpakam Swaminathan. No SrI rAgam yet. I have one recording (poor audio) of chitti bAbu playing a racy SrI rAga varNam recorded here at CU Boulder, CO back in 1971.
Yes, if I had many kingdoms I would give away. I'm just copying what the King of Jaipur or Jodhpur (????) told Smt MS after listening to her kAmavardhini rAga AlApanA.

Ksrimech, a long time ago, Balachander's RTP in srI was shared on sangeethapriya. It is an outstanding piece. I found out last year, however, that the CD I made of it (running more than an hour) was corrupt. But I'm sure someone would be able to locate it and upload. It is a must listen piece for any CM rasika!

The RTP in Sri by S.Balachandar is commercially available. I purchased last year. Simply outstanding.
