Has anyone purchased mp3's downloads from charsur online?
Just wondering how smooth and safe it would be, would like to hear people's experiences. :)

I've had no problems ever since they revamped their website. It's been a smooth process.

The website seems to be exceptionally slow at the moment which is putting me off for the time being.

Since their website was relaunched, it's been much easier to buy and download albums.

However, their files are still 128K MP3s; they still use CCAvenue; they have many errors in their track labels and descriptions and so on; and an occasional track has some audio problems. Worst of all, they appear to be unreachable, either through their customer service page or through any email address. (A commenter on Sanjay's blog appears to have the same complaint re reaching Charsur.)

I'm still a customer, but I do have cause to grumble.

Are these from recent CDs? I am asking because Charubala has a copy of my Index CD now.

Lakshman, I'm referring to the downloadable content on Charsur's web site. I mentioned this elsewhere:
http://rasikas.org/forums/post130751.html#p130751

Hopefully these are just occasional errors and not a continuing trend, but let's see. (And it goes without saying that while I think that these are errors, I may be wrong.)

I'm glad they have a copy of the Index, it's a tremendously helpful resource.

I became a member in December 2008 and have had a lot of problems logging on to the site.
I agree they are quite unreachable and actually I contact Sanjay Subrahmanyan to get a direct email address ([email protected]). After numerous emails to them (which I did not get a reply), they resent a new user name and password to me yesterday but still it does not work!

I am not very happy with the service at all. I'd be careful becoming an online member and stick to buying their CDs from stores.

Its inredibly horrible website, the music they have is awesome. I am waiti ng for my trip to chennai to buy after having burnt manytimes trying to buy sanjay's concert. the user interface i found in new site also is very bad from US. I am comparing to buying from amazon mp3 1 click experience or itunes.

My experience is not good. They were not helpful understanding the download only options.

Prashant, can you explain my following doubts.

I wanted to download the songs (download only option) and not interested in using walkin option.

So in that, after selecting the basket with some downloadable songs, after step 2 , there seem to be only
walk in option or sent to my address option. HOw to proceed after this.

How to download after payment?

Okay i bought a cd-download today...at the end of the day i was able to download the album immediately after payment but the process is VERY confusing.

Rajaglan, when you click on add to cart it will say on the bottom if its download or not. If it is proceed, it will have the "walk in" option selected i dont know why happened for me as well, it will also ask for shipping address and all sorts of crap, just forget about it and keep going, once you pay you will see the download link :P Sort of like magic :)

I dont know why charusr make it soo confusing. As someone else mentioned it is impossible to contact them. As a professional company they should take some pride and avoid making amateur naming errors.
Carnatica's service is much better and you can actually contact them however, charsurs content is much better.

Rasika, Thanks for the clarification. Charsur is not realising that there is lot of crap while getting one song downloaded. May be I should try a dummy download at lower value.
On a different note , I contacted them through email and there were two responses but of no use to start me with a download. I understand now that
thay cannot say that please ignore all that crap on the way. And later there was no response. I hope the mgmt see all these because this is not a high
volume business and the customers are very few.

I also found something called save discount offer 20%. It has to be
1. "save 20%" OR
2. "use 20% discount".
When I asked for clarification , they justified that "save discount " word is correct though their meaning is what I mentioned.
