Request Lyrics, Composer, Ragam, Taalam and Chitta Swarams if any, of this song : The song’s words - as I heard during the Kutcheri :

Nee Eppudu Krupakalkuno, Ina Kula Tilaka …
Neraval at : Talli Tana Ippudu Daivamu NIve Ni Gati

It was most probably sung in Mukhari Ragam.

While searching through the net, I found in one pdf(*) file, 2 songs with somewhat similar rhyming words, but only in parts :

- P402 : Charanam : talli taNDri guru daivamu nIv(a)ni … [talli taNDri – probably means parents], but this song with P : ‘nenaruJcarA nApaini’ is in rAgam siMhavAhini [janya of 27 – sarasAn'gi]

- P110 : This song with P : ennaDu jUtunO ina kula tilaka ninn(ennadu), is in rAgam kalAvati [janya of 16 – chakravAkam]

But, “talli taNDri” and “ina kula tilaka” appear in many of T’s songs.

PS 1 : The Kutcheri was held in Bangalore, on 24th Oct, 2010 ; Singer : Bangalore S Shankar. [I am not sure if his initial is S or N ie, not sure if it is S Shankar or N Shankar. Pl let me know if you are aware of his correct initial.]

(*) : PS 2 : I had downloaded this 1262 pages pdf file of Tyagaraja’s compositions (with meanings, discussions etc) long back. Unfortunately, the author’s name is not to be seen in this file ! If you know the author's name, pl let me know.

The book you are referring to probably The Spiritual Heritage of Tyagaraja. The text and meaning were by C.Ramanujachari and the discussion was by Dr.V.Raghavan.

I am afraid this Vachaspati song by PSI, may not be the song Shri Shankar sang the other day.

Firstly, I am almost certain that it was Mukhari – for eg, very much rhyming all along with the famous song Ksheena Mayi of Tyagaraja.

Secondly, the Neraval did have the words :
Talli Tana Ippudu Daivamu NIve Ni Gati
OR perhaps : Talli taNDri ?? Ippudu Daivamu NIve Ni Gati
But surely, “Daivamu NIve Ni Gati” was definitely there – which I don't find in the PSI's Vachaspati song.

My father has an old edition of the book : “The Spiritual Heritage of Tyagaraja” ; I have often seen it when I visit him.
I think this pdf file is most probably, a different one. It was probably downloaded from the scribd site : http://www.scribd.com/doc/12828844/ThyagarajaKritis-
For eg, in p525 of this pdf file, it refers to :
“…Atma garhaNa as described by Dr V Raghavan, in his Introductory Thesis to the book ‘The Spiritual Heritage of Tyagaraja’ by Sri C Ramanujachariar. …”

Anyway, whether it is a certain book or an other book, we still don’t have the lyrics of the Mukhari song – atleast not as yet !

In the Sahityam part of the song, I have heard the addition of the prefix : “Nee” during the sangatis of the Pallavi line ; so : (Nee) Eppudu Krupa Galguno, Ina Kula Tilaka.

I am already in touch with the host of the Music Pgm that day - regarding the lyrics of this Mukhari song (see : “Epudu kripa galguno inakula tilaka niku-Mukhari-Adi” listed by Shri Lakshman in http://rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14676), as well as the Andolika song (http://www.rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14656 (still waiting for an answer from rasikas))

Sri Lakshman, an esteemed senior rasika, does not owe anything to anybody - what he does in sharing and providing lyrics w/ raga/talam etc. to all and sundry from his painstakingly self-created database is something remarkable.
He goes the extra mile in listening and transcribing and in other ways to get the lyrics - given his personal interest.
You could post a sincere appreciation of his efforts without pontificating.

Pl let Shri Lakshman reply / confirm on my query wrt the Singer-Composer of the Andolika song.
The lyrics for this song took some time initially – as can be seen from the previous msgs in the thread of this Andolika song : http://www.rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14656, and hence the request to him for a confirmation.

Since repeated requests are often made that the Lyrics’ request should be made separately for each song, it is only appropriate that the lyrics for the Andolika song needs to be in the correct thread indicated above, and hence the note on the cross-ref.

But who is “shyama-priya” anyway, to be so arrogantly, questioning the good progress of a nice thread ? Perhaps, does she count herself as the latter part of her own phrase : “all and sundry” that she herself has so arrogantly described in her Msg #11 ? !
