Re: Sri.G. Viswanathan passes away
Cienu: My heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of your father whom I have known for the last 53 years--since he married your Mother. Myself and my mother went to Ahmedabad where your Dad worked for one of the textile mills,to settle them in September 1957 --we represented your grandparents at their bidding. He was an exemplary kind soul--quiet but very astute and fully aware of the glitter and glamor that was an integral part of your Mom's life. The sixties and seventies were tumultuous in their lives--what with the International and Domestic tours that necessitated your Mother's frequent travels and the never-ending rehearsals and recordings--throughout this phase he was tremendously supportive and understanding holding the family together.
When I met him in his house , in November 2009,he was more worried about your Mother's health than his own, and mildly rued whether he should have been more assertive in the early days restricting her travels and whether all those strains are now coming back to haunt her. True to his benevolent nature, despite his own indifferent health he permitted you to bring your Mom to Cleveland to be honored--your tenacity and perseverance played no mean part I might add--.
He never tried to "hog' the limelight always letting your Mother's irrepressible gregariousness take the lead.
A lot of what your grandmother achieved and what your mother contributed to it -- would not have been possible without your father's patience and understanding. NO ONE UNDERSTOOD THIS BETTER THAN YOUR MOTHER . My heart goes out to her at this moment--will talk to her later this week. Her indomitable spirit and courage are being tested. May God give her and the members of your family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
You Cienu have been a tower of strength to your parents and we in our family--especially my 91-year old mother for whom your Mom is the eldest daughter--- have admired your sense of duty and dedication to your parents despite being away from Chennai. and not minding the frequent weekend visits
from Bangalore.
May God give you and your family the courage and strength to cope with this loss.
Ramesh Mama.

Cienu sir
I am deeply shocked to hear this. I remember the conversation I had with your father when I visited Radha Amma, he was joking about his and his wife's ill-health, a dose of sportive wry humour. I pray that God give the strength to you and Radha Amma to bear this loss.
