As many laya giants have opined, Harishankar was a MAHAMEDHAI indeed. When he was on the stage, the air would be charged with great expectation - the entire team of percussionists too looked forward to his prowess in display.

In the above video, please have a look how Sri Harishankar replies to the Misra Koraippus. Can Any one play like that on the spot @ this point of time? Answer = No one. I miss him (In fact we all miss him)
And Sankaran Sir is in full flow... ripping the Tisram apart and the first korvai... mixture of chatusram (keezh and melkkalam), khandam and tisram... simply superb. please check the first part of this tani for this korvai

I was reading this thread today from beginning to end today. Thanks everyone ..esp thathwamasi for some of those wonderful posts at the beginning of the thread.
I had read about his death in the papers but after reading some of the posts here, I truly felt a sense of loss for the first time
