Nithyasree Mahadevan on TV 1_Telugu channel

It was a pleasant surprise listening to 3 hours of uninterrupted (save a few commercial breaks) CM concert on TV.TV1 a telugu channel should be congratulated for the live telecast of Nithyasree Mahadevan from Hotel Marriott, Hyderabad yesterday from 8 to 11pm.

Nithyasree Mahadevan was accompanied by M A Krishnaswamy on the violin, Neyveli
Skandhasubramaniam on the Mrudangam and H Sivaramakrishnan on the ghatam. I
missed the first (few?) songs and when I stuck the channel NM was singing Ela nI
dhayarAdhu in atAna. Rarely we hear Atana alapana elaborated in such great
detail and there was a lovely niraval at rRra dEvathi. Viruttam in
Shanmukhapriya followed by Annamacharya's parama purusha nirupamAna was a treat
to the ears. The Pièce de résistance was Thyagaraja's Dorakuna ituvanti sEva in
Bilahari. This was followed by a rather subdued thani. Post thani, there were
krithis of Annamacharya in subhapantuvarAli, sindhubhairavi, chandrakauns and
kuranji before the concert ended with the mangalam.

Wish we have many more such uninterrupted live telecast of carnatic music concerts in the future.
