IDENTITY CARD FOR THE RASIKAS.

With the impetus given by Sri VKV, we have successfully conducted the Rasikasâ€™ meet in 2009 and the preparation for the Global Rasikas meet 2010 is underway. With the
Expectation of a large participation of the global Rasikas, Mr. Nick and Sri C Rama
have mooted the idea of a proper identity card to be pinned in their shirts is suggested
for easy recognition of the Rasikas.

Well, with the artistic ideas from the Rasikas, they may suggest a format for the identity card.
They suggested format may be
1. A passport size photo in the top LH side.
2. A logo of Rasikas. Org adjacent to the photo in RH side in a circle and in the top of the circle and member at the bottom of the circle.
3. In between the two perhaps a single line drawing of Meera with the tambura. in the centre.
4. Name of the Rasika.
5. User name of the Rasika.
6. Mail ID of the Rasika.
7. Country and the State where the Rasika is residing.
8. Phone and Mobile NO. Of the Rasika. [OPTIONAL].

The suggestive ideas may be submitted up to 30.11,2010.

The admin and the moderators may select the best format of the Identity card
and this may be followed by all the Global Rasikas attending the meet.

All Rasikas can suggest the correct format to be adopted and their model of the
Identity card.

Nageswaran,
Since we will be there physically, we won't need a picture pinned on ourselves. Other information can be exchanged as we meet, and all we need is our forum names, our own names if we wish, and the country we come from. This way, we can easily read what's printed there. Too much info means much smaller print.
Of course, others are welcome with their suggestions.

I agree with Arasi on the general approach that only the name, forum id and country are needed. Probably the country is even optional.

There are a couple of needs.

1. A general rasikas.org badge without any name or identifying information. This is useful if someone wants to wear that to a concert so another rasikas.org member can spot them and then voluntarily talk to that person to get to know the details.

2. For this global meet event, where you want the name and the rasikas id

May be it can be in two parts. A small badge that identifies rasikas.org with a small hook at the back. Then a regular badge ( a plastic holder to which you can insert a piece of paper on which people can write their name and id. And attach this badge to the rasikas.org badge.

This way both requirements can be met.

Just an idea. Feel free to poke holes, augment it, change it or propose something different.

Just one point to be added , long time back in one of the concerts held in sowmya's flat (bangalore shankar),atleast I used to take pictures and post names along with the photos. There were quite a few within rasikas.org who did not like it. I personally have no issues , though definitely not interested in putting mobile nos and giving that kind of personal details.Sending Personal mails, disclosing state,city,etc is something that each of us can choose during the meet to their respective liking .

May be if those who are interested in exposing their visual identity too can participate in a group photo and we can publish that ,as such mapping rasikas ids with the photo will just do for the sake of long term memories or records . Mapping ids with real names is bit too difficult to remember and can always be optional.

I think coming up with a small pin with our ids in this meet will just do. (That is still a burden for nAgeshwaran sir to prepare, I can help and take it forward).

Just make blank cards, with rasikas logo and pinning facility and provide a few Broad marker pens. Rasikas who come can write what they desire to be made public and pin it on their dress. Same can be used while going to concerts too for mutual identification.

BTW what are the dates. By chance if we are in chennai.......

We should have T-shirts with famous faces of our forum printed on it. Members who come to mind immediately are our respected guru CML, rajesh for his immense contribution by reviewing concerts and his positive feedback always etc..
Members interested can be given an option to buy and also contribute for the event organised and spearheaded by Sri Nageswaran.

How about - a line drawing of Globe( signifying Global reach ) - Seven colors strips, filling the Globe, denoting the Sapthaswara, in watermarks - OM Symbol, prominently centered, signifying Nada ( A, U, M) and finally, below the OM Symbol, R in capital letter, small and clear dot and small 'o' - signifying the Rasika and the Rasikas.org.
If acceptable, Mr.Nageshwaran can get the ID cards done and all the rasikas to pay and collect the ID.

Dear Rasikas,

The suggestion given by the moderator Vasanthakokilam seems to be practical and simple.

The sample model submitted by the U/S is the actual size of the credit card.

After the inscription of the RASIKAS.ORG, we have enough space to write down
the Name of the Rasika for identification.

A small hole in the centre is to insert a twain and can be pinned down in the shirt button.

The Idea of having a T-Shirt with the â€œRasikas. Orgâ€ from Music fan_4201 is also good. But the question of
Cotton or synthetic banian is to be decided. Also we may require different sizes to be
decided to fit properly to all the Rasikas [Medium, Large and Extra large].

Member of Rasikas forum who are visiting Chennai (Madras) for the December music season are planning to have a meeting at Chennai on 19th of December to get to know each other and to exchange views. The identity card that is being discussed here is only for use at this meeting. It will be a blank card with the logo of 'rasikas forum'.

Dear Rasikas,

The Identity card suggested by Sri Prathyaksham Bala is very good with the suggestion
given by Vasanthakokilam incorporated. [Logo in the RHS top corner]

It would be better if the Identity card is made to the size of a credit card in plastic
to be worn in the neck like the Identity cards issued by the IT companies.

Interesting to see the developments. My vote is also for simplicity: a simple scrap of paper with rasikas.org name and [optionally, for those who wish to remain anonymous] real-life name would serve the purpose, but the design posted above certainly adds some beauty and style

I'd go for button or pin attachment. The company-id thing as worn around the neck is not so good for at-a-glance recognition, and also adds cost.

Two colours Blue and Green backgronds are shown.

In the front of the card, only the Rasikas logo will be available on the RHS top corner.

In the Reverse of the card again, The Rasikas logo will be in the top RHS corner and

1. User name; 2. Real name; and 3. Country/ State and 3. city is inscribed.

There are 2 options available in writing the Country/ State/City in the card.

1. The Rasikas may write the details with a marker pen.

2. They can emboss the details in the Identity Card.

Sample Identity cards were prepared by my friend Sri Chandrasekaran, Managing Direcortor of
The Electronic Musical Instruments [ESWAR Sruthi Boxes].

He was kind enough to meet the expenses for making the Identity Cards.

If the model is approved by majority of the Rasikas, we may perhaps order about 100 No.s of the Identity Cards.

Rasikas may give their opinions.

Respected Admin, Moderators may convey their approval for the Identity card once a final decision is arrived at.

I am sorry that you have already ordered and cancelled the order for making the Identity card.

I would request you to hold the cancellation of the order till we get the opinion from other Rasikas
also before finally selecting one of the card suggested by you or by the U/S.

I have note yet given the order for making the Identity cards.

If more Rasikas prefer the model submitted by Sri Prathyaksham Bala, we can as well
avail the design of this model.

Rasikas and respected Vasanthakokilam may take an urgent decision on this matter say before 06.12.2010.

With due respect. Sri Nageswaran -- you must be aware that all cotton T-shirt (spun, jersey, mercerised) is any day FAR FAR superior to "synthetic" stuff ?

This is BOTH health-wise and particularly, Indian climate-wise.

I am surprised that this "synthetic" option has even come up, given high levels of music-related awareness !

So do we pick up the ID card at the entrance on the day of the meeting?

Sri. Nageswaran, I have been traveling and hence the delay.
You do not really need the approval of the admin/mods for the design
choices. And you do not have much time now the gauge the overall opinion of the rasikas.
So you make the decision based the comments of rasikas and your own
preference. I also think what R-R says makes sense as an overall guideline.

Regarding T-shirts, my own personal opinion is skewed towards not undertaking it mainly because of the pain in organizing it in terms of size, material etc. Also, not everyone, of both gender, wear t-shirts. Anyway that is just my thoughts, nothing official.

Respected Radhika Rajnarayanan,

As I feel that many of the Rasikas would be attending the Reception
of Sri Ramakrishnan[Our Admin], I will try to distribute the Identity card
to the Rasikas attending the reception.

Anyhow, the Identity card will be issued at the entrance of the Hall
where out meeting will be held.

The meeting commences at 09.30 hrs.
