Two hour concert as part of homage to the late P.N.Krishnamoorthy, following the one of Govind Balakrishnan.

Since I could attend only a little of this one, I hope others who were there would fill up the details and a fuller report.

Slokam in Hamsadhwani morphing into Era napai in Todi at a brisk pace, which warmed up the audience. Mayamalavagoula ragam was next and both vocalist and violinist did a good job at something which often is a routine scale based exercise (that being what one is taught for the first few years, or is it months or weeks these days?!). The kriti was the blockbuster Srinathadi guruguho, with neraval at mAdhurya ganAmrta pAno in the caranam and swaram a few lines later at the madhyamakala line mayamalava ... Very neatly done.

Then was Paridana, yet another khanda capu in Bilahari (a couple of hours prior to that, Govind B had sung Tolijanma, with Prashant very much present in the audience!). The chance was too good to miss, I guess! It was nice and lively.

Prashant's heavy tastes were in full flow in the Mukhari alapana that followed and the great karubaru subsequently.

After a filler that I missed hearing, I was walking away with Kambodhi ragam in the night air and I hope others fill the report. The card carrying Dikshitar-o-phile that Prashant is, I would not be surprised at a Sri Subrahmanyaya namaste or thereabouts from him. Incidentally, Kambhoji was a favourite of the late PNK and the one and only time I have heard him make an on the spot request was to B.V.Raman and B.V.Lakshmanan once, when PNK was so struck by their O Rangasayi the previous night at another venue that he spontaneously asked them to sing it again in 'our' sabha. As close as we get in CM to an encore! The gentlemanly duo cheerfully obliged and a memorable time was had by all on that occasion.

Returning to Prashant, he has already built up a solid repertoire and his concert and presentation skills improve with each concert, and with this team, he did very well indeed.

Happy to hear about Prashant's wonerful concert. Myself being a 'Dikshitar' fan, I hope he sang Shri Subhramanyaya namaste. Nadadi guruguho is the first composition of Nadajyoti Shri Muthuswmy Dikshitar, I understand.
Nice to read about the incident when Shri PNK asked Shri B.V.Raman and Shri B.V.Lakshmanan to sing 'O rangasayee'. Normally he never asks.

My question is: are you singing in Chennai at all? Would like to listen to you again. Your concert at Tatvaloka two years ago was very good!.I am sure your singing is even better now
