Very enjoyable concert from Gayatri who has a very melodious voice. The voice can start fading and you can see she is working on her vocal strength. Natabhairavi had shades of Charamathi in the raga alapana. Lalitha was preceded with a short and emotional viruttam. The Dikshitar kriti was sung at a much slower pace than ususal, but with great feeling-it was lovely. Her forte is definitely her niraval singing. Dhuritha paga mai marachi in Mohana Rama was well explored. Two hours is definitely not enough for her and sure enough she ran out of time for maybe even another thukada.

VV Ravi faithfully accompanied the artiste. But the surprise was the percussion. I am no laya expert but both Balaji and Murali showed great touch whether it be the slow Hiranmayeem or the brisk Shashi vadana. The thani was ofcourse smart. Well rounded concert, well attended and very enjoyable

Terrific concert.

I see a new dimension in her singing with an emphasis on the lyrical content and an attempt to convey the meaning of each word as it is sung, especially during neraval etc. This takes the concert to a whole different level. Also good to see her keeping the tendency of excessive kuzhaivu in check.
