It was a two hour concert. Athira's bowing technique is some where in between L.Subramanyam's and Kunnakuid Vaidyanathan's, on a scale of 0-10 and if LS is 10 and KKV is 2 Athira is 8. The enhancer I have always felt evens out gamakams with intensity of volume. Athira's wasn't gamakam laden but she compensated with rapidity. Her imagination is original and wonderful but she could not avoid anniya swaras sustenance on the higher octaves. Anniya swaras when flashed used to give rakthi to raga and should not sustain. If the fellow members can remember the same thing happened in Abishek Raghuram's vocal concert last season which invited lot of criticism in the forum. Vainika commented on his mixing sudhdha saveri notes in Neelambari. This happened because of the rapidity of Abishek's mind. Probably the same thing was happening to Athira also. Her performance was otherwise terrific and electric. She sang a RTP in Amruthavarshini with Pallavi 'Swara layam, sulayam, layam ohm, sadanandhamayam, sangeetha mayam and with kalpana swarams in Amruthavarshini,
Hamsanandhi and behag.
It was overall a satisfying concert and Athira in the years to come will go places if she focuses on Karnatic music alone. She plays like a possessed person. Such a trance state is possible only for a true artist.
The pakkavadyams did not do anything adverse to obstruct Athira's thought process. Congrats Athira and company!

I read ur review and agree with U mostly.Last yr.when she played a RTP in Hindolam @ Velachery for Nadhasudha, it was full of anya swarams flowing freely and she was unmindful of that.During tani when it was only half way,she aborted it and and started playing.Very bad and condemnable attitude.

Was this the concert which was followed by Malladi bros' concert with Trichy Sankaran? Anyways, even i was there for that concert @ Velachery and i thought that time, she had picked up the song in the middle of the thani more out of ignorance about laya.
