followed ragamalika- Bhagudari, Mohana kalyani, Abheri and Hamsanadham.

9) Short alapana Kamas- "TeRuvadeppo Nenje"- Neelakanta Sivan.

10) "Slokam" "Aakashichi" followed by "Shivashankara Deena dayaLu"- Ganapathi Sachinanda
Swmigal- Sindu bhairavi.

Another outstanding concert by MB. Started with the kriti in revagupti tuned by
their Guru Sri.Nedanuri.

Each and every kriti was taken at its face value and redered beautifully. In Dnuka,
TheY sang like this-Telialeru "Ramabhakti" maarga..instead of traditional way of
..Rama, bhakthi marga..

Denuka was unplanned by them and hence, Saveri could not be taken elaborately and cut
short but neverthless, it was wonderful.

Whate else you need for a sunday evening with the AAA + concert like this ?

MA has asked Tani to be played only for 10 min. Within this time, both performed
very well.

THE SUNDAY:

I had been to MA to take ticket for the evenint programme. It was not crowded. With the
unusual cold, I barged in Mini Hall and observed the following:

Mallari in Nadaswaram was being demostrated. To my surprise, there were some half a
dozen different mallaris played. I was told that it is played at different stages of a
particular function at temples. Trichy Shankaran explained that the mallaris are the
base for Tanam (in RTP) which were played by Vidwans at a later stage.
I could see Sri.Trichy Shankaran, Shri.Vellore R and Shri VVS decorating the seats
with SK Bombay sisters..

There was one team of "Madras Quartret" demonstrating the Carnatic ragas in fusion style.
It was someting superb, their Rara Venu, Sugunamule and Jnamu sagaradha were wonderful.
I will upload this very soon.

The morning session of Sri.Srikantan witnessed a full house and I was there only for his
Mohana alapana and "Mohan Rama". I was wondering this "doyen's voice and rendition.
Something great. Pristine clarity.

Last but not the least. Shri Seshagopalan's conert at 7.15 PM. He was in full form.
His Bairavi main was.......something out of the world. What a raga alapana

I could not sit for the whole concert. If someone reviews this I will add..

Looks like a great concert.
They sang the same pallavi here in Toronto a few months ago. Beautiful pallavi.
It is set in chatuSra jAti triputa tALam, khanda nadai.

Didn't Malladi bros sing a pallavi in sAveri two years ago at the academy?

In the ragamalika section it was not defenitely Mohanakalyani.Looked like KAntAmani.(it was some sampoorna ragam .is it not ?)

10 Minutes duration for Tani in MA

It was told by Mah.Ramachandran in a function held mid-Nov. Actually, couple of concerts, I came to know, the tani lasted 10 minutes like Manda suda rani and Pantula Rama.

But I also heard from my friend that Trichy Shankaran and Giridhar Udupa (Vijay Siva) tani lasted 19 minutes.

I could not confirm this since I attended only this concert in MA.

True, it was a sampoorna ragam ! Not Mohana Kalyani.

grs: I enjoyed two songs sung by Sri RK Srikantan much before the mohanam.
Kamalambike in Nattai of Jayachamaraja Wodeyar which has couple of charanams with swarams followed by lyrics.

A pleasant elaboration of Janaranjani followed by Smarane Sukham with swarams
