His voice was in a great form throughout and the concert kalai kattified right from the start. The brief round of swaras for Mandari were just electrifying and flowing freely as were the swaras or Thodi. Thodi was an elaborate affair and he indulged in srutibedam (to kalyani?) in the midst of the alapana and seems to have to pulled it off - judging by the round of applause and so did the violinist. Left when he started tanam after a brief three minute raga elaboration (including violin) and by then it was already 9:06 by one of the clocks (three clocks visible from where I was seated each showing time differently - one showing 9:06, another 9:05 and another 9:04)
If grsastrigal were a SS partisan, he would have rued the absence of SS. In fact SS songs seem to be very much on the wane - though NSG sang Palimsu in the previous slot & GV took Ninne nammi nanu earlier.
