I missed the first half an hour of this concert due to the commute from the Academy. I have been wanting to listen to RG for some time now. She sang pleasantly. I have now heard two kIravANi mains and one simmhEndramadhyamam main in the last day! The violinist was of Parur training and was decent. The mrudangam was given an unnecessarily loud volume. The percussionists were both fair.

I found the presentation erudite but well within the comfort zone of the artiste. Chitta swara for niroshta was new to me.

Wasn't that the Lalgudi thillana in Revathi and Misrachapu? Anyway, I switch my brain off when I hear the All India Radio signature tune so it could well have been Sivaranjani.

I switch off during tukkadas and ragamaliga swaras as well, so it may have been rEvati, too!
