Had to leave then when he started a viruttam. A superb concert that never had a saggy moment and kept one engaged. Nagai's violin was just as sweet and the way Sanjay & Nagai elaborated the pallavi (including anulomam and pratilomam) was superb. Nagai's kamas brought out its peppy and joyous side very clearly.

Yes, it was really a fantastic concert. Eventhough he did his usual rap(?:-)) in the RTP -- it sounded very good --
since it matched the lyrics very well.
He sang a ragamaalika viruttum (I think it was kambodi, kapi(?), darbari kaanada, sindhubhairavi) -- the lyrics were really
superb. followed by vaa, vaa Velmuruga.

What a horrible location... They oversell the tickets and pack people in like sardines.. or a puLi mootai...
What a stressful way to listen to music!
Bolted out of there in the middle of Janaranjani, went to Raga Sudha and listened to a sowkyam filled Suguna mami's Tulasi bilwa...
Kudos to Nada Inbam for conducting a music festival in the middle of these circuses!

I agree. Worse was the audio, when the power went off in the middle of suruti. The speakers in the front are
way too loud -- the mridangam and ghatam sounded way too harsh.
Does anybody know the lyrics of the "viruttam." Bharathi who was not there, says she has heard
this before/ It goes like this:
Orumaiyudan ...
Varumai ...
Madamaana Pei ..
Pennaasai(?) ...
Madivendum ...
It looks like a good set of lyrics for the "movement on peace and unity."

One of the best Aboghi kalpanaswarams. It really uplifed the concert. Keeping in the mood of the pallavi line, Sanjay did some very interesting nadai changes and Nagai Sir's violin was of the top order. His returns were excellent, which would be an understatement.
I just love the Sucharita number and the now regular Arutpa viruttam. BTW Sanjay changed the line "Unadhu Karunai Nidhi Vendum" to "Unadhu Nidhi Vendum" and there was a spontaneous applause. He did pause to say "Alli kudukkararey..." and also added singara chennai-yil. Also changed the word to NAAM VAZHA vendum from NAAN VAZHA vendum.
The Kamas RTP was good and I would have preferred for the Tanam to go on a little bit. I would prefer more time being spent on Kamas during R and T.

'aLLik koDukkiRIr!' was addressed to Nalli in the front row, the ace patron of CM. He was there for the whole concert and had supper at the Mount Mani canteen as well!
If this is the very Mani (and family) who catered to Lord Mountbatten, they can take pride in that instead of going to a five star restaurant, Nalli chose to dine at a humble sabha canteen!
