Ganesh - Kumaresh (Violin) in Sastri Hall, Mylapore -18/12

Post by Shyamala Rangarajan »

A brilliant concert for SAFE, by the violin brothers - Ganesh & Kumaresh, enthralled the audience in Sastri Hall, Mylapore, on the 18th Dec evening. The items rendered were...

1. Sadhinchene (Arabhi Pancharatnam - Thyagarajar)
2. Mudhakaram (Hamsadwani)
3. Mayamma (Aahiri - Syama sasthri)
4. Aparadamula (Darbar - Thyagarajar)
5. Bagaya neyya (Chandrajothi - Thyagarajar)
6. Giripai (Sahana - Thyagarajar)
7. Ragam Tanam Pallavi (Mandari)
8. Thendral Veesidum Neram Idhu..(Ragamalikai)
9. Thillana (Dwajavanthi)
10. Bhagyathalakshmi..(Madyamavathi).

Pallavi for the RTP was sung by Kumaresh (not by Ganesh !). Item No 8 was a song on Chennai Music Season, composed by Smt Usha Raghuraman, mother of Abhishek Raghuraman, the rising star of Carnatic Music, sung by Ganesh.

The whole concert was thoroughly enjoyable and the entire audience sat through the whole programme.

Nice list - would love to listen to #8 - audiences have already heard Sri Ganesh sing many times, both in concerts as well as in other situations - his was the male playback voice in the movie, 'Dance like a Man'. Do you know what the words to the pallavi were?

Didn't Anand (Anantha Krishan) accompany them here? I bet it was a great performance.

I wanted to attend this, but was held up at the academy after Pantula Rama's very good concert there.
