Music season recordings - are they available for purchase?

Post by mahanara »

Are recordings of the music season concerts available for purchase? If yes, can someone let me know the following:

- Sabhas/Stores where we can purchase from and whether they're available through out the year?
- Are previous season concerts available?

Thanks!

Usually previous year's concerts are available for purchase throughout the year. Check out charsur.com. In addition if you are in chennai, you could check out sankara hall where new releases are available during the season.

Yes, I too wish it would come immediately -- so that one can listen again and go through
the concert experience again. A few years ago pre-recorded cassettes used
to be produced immediately. But, they used to mess with the concert quite a bit -- reordering
to make the concert fit on a set of cassettes.

Some of Kalarasana, NGS, BK will come next year (Charsur preserves the order) --
But, the recordings donot feel like the concert, the applause and echo is absent.

MA concerts come after a few years.

I don't think MA releases concerts. Never.

Sanjay releases 3 concerts in a year through Charsur. If you come to Music
academy, you can find half a dozen stalls displaying latest CDs. You can
pick Vijay Siva for Rs. 50 (!!!!) and even a DVD of Sikkil Gurucharan for
Rs. 150.

You have Shankara Hall just 3 minutes walk to get all precious recordings.

This year even Giri Trading started the discount sale near Mylapore temple.

So, enjoy....
