I take pleasure in informing you all that my dream of keyboard being classified as a lead instrument in AIR has come true!

I am also happy to share the good news that my son, K. Sathyanarayanan along with Sri. Ravisankar (grand son of Nanganallur NSTSS Sri Ramanathan) has been awarded with "B" grade and the letter to this effect was received day before yesterday.

tkb, keyboard may not be my thing... but still, I am delighted to hear of your son's success. Hearty congratulations. I am sure the A grade will come as soon as it can.


(Somebody explained this to me long ago: I think there is a minimum period at each grade before the next can be awarded?)

When you use keyboard, which timbres of the sounds palette are usually chosen?

Nick H - Thanks for the wishes and yes from now on it is for any artiste to prove their worthiness in performing classical music on this instrument and keep upgrading their grades as per the rules and regulations stipulated by AIR which is at par with any other lead instruments like Violin, Mandolin, Nadaswaram, Veena etc

As i said i am delighted that the instrument is now recognised by the country's leading authority AIR and this opens up a big oppurtunity for many young / elderly people taking up to express their musical thoughts in this instrument.

cookmex - While artists use different tones, Sathya uses Jazz Guitar tone.

In AIR, I am sure they have a committee (consisting of recognized members from music community) for analyzing, evaluating and awarding grades. Is this a fair statement? Congrats to Sathya and wish many more success.
