After J & J's concert, it occurred to me how few people (in fact, are you the only one?) can sit in an audience and listen to purely classical carnatic music played on an instrument that they designed.

There are always the one-offs and the personal adaptations of western instruments, but this is a production instrument, which is a different thing altogether.

Quite an accomplishment!

Thanks to all rasikas for their new year wishes to us and to Radel. We are inspired by all of you. Nick, I'm touched. Indeed, it is a production instrument. So the intention is to listen critically and look for problems or shortcomings in the product. But JJ effectively prevented this - I got totally lost in the music and before I knew it the concert was over!

I woke up this morning to a bright pleasant warm weather ushering in the new year. I had a very contented feeling and for some unknown reason, the words of Subramanya Bharathi popped up in my mind

(The devils that had caught hold of us have gone. We see goodness. Let us celebrate it by playing the traditional Kummi dance)

The problems , impediments, hard feelings (if any) have disappeared and let the new year bring cheer, health, happiness and goodness to all of us.

I am with you--except for the ear multipliation bit. A finer ear perhaps. Then again, you may be right in that more ears means more of rasikAs in number
