In Ragamaliga swarams of Dvijavanthi RTP RG sisterts sang in this order Natta,Kanada.,Hamir Kalyani( rendered beautifully by Ranjani)
and Sindhu Bhairavi(By Gayathri).
I attended 3 concerts of RG sisters in this season, the point to note is Ranjani who used to be happy with providing supporting role to her younger sister Gayathri has tried sucessfully to take equal role now(if not dominant)
and Sindhu Bhairavi(By Gayathri).

Even though RG sisters plan and execute their concerts well, they have lot of repetetions in their song list.Even the Kulasekara alwar pasuram (Shanmukapriya,Arabhi(instead of the usual Mohanam) and Hamsanandhi followed by Srinivasa Thrivenkata Mudayan Papanasam Sivan Hamsanandhi song has featured in so ,many of their concerts.
The neelambari song was really good in this concert.

Yeah Bilahari, my mom and I and a friend of mine attended a string of concerts starting with Ashwin's concert at MA on 23rd to PP's concert at MA on 28th. Had a great time - my first time during the season. Stood at MA at 5:30 for Sanjay and R&G/E.Gayathri. I am not knowledgeable enough to review - so put out the songlists. Liked MA and KGS for the acoustics and Kalarasana was good too! MFA and Mudhra didn't have good acoustics.bilahari wrote:Wow! You have been on some spree, g_g! Thank you for all the lists. Yes - I think Gayatri is the best in singing in the upper octaves, while Ranjani (the older, and the one who sits on the left when you are viewing them from the audience) sounds beautiful in the lower...as nuyorker put it in one his reviews, Gayatri has mastered 'miDippu' to the last 'u'....her finishing flourishes are aesthetic as well as brilliant...gardabha_gana wrote:Who is R and who is G ? G - Gayathri
When you are sitting in the audience, facing the duo, the one in the left is R ji (next to mridangam) and the one in right is G ji (usually near violin) . Yes it is Gji who sings in the upper octaves and brings those electrifying effects and Hindustani touches to the songs. Just to clarify - am not sarcastic and am appreciative of these effects and also i donot mean that Rji is not a good singer either.
