Another day of lovely concerts by young talents. Thanks to Charsur, we are teated to some great music, made more enjoyable with the support of experienced and senior accompanists. You may all have enjoyed the concerts of Sandeep, Amrita Murali and Saketaraman – today’s performance by Ramakishnan Murthy is a beautiful amalgamation of vintage music in a modern mould. Tillai Chidambaram in Poorvikalyani was a complete treat. The todi alapana was fantastic too…followed by Dachukovalena.

But the highlight was undoubtedly the viruttam in hamsanandi and kapi (adharamile). It’s not often we come across a singer who can touch the pulse of the raga being rendered. Ram did this effortlessly! M A Krishnaswamy on the violin , Arun Prakash on the mridangam and Govindarajan on the ghatam did their experienced bit to lift the concert to its height.

Do try and catch as many of these concerts as you all can. We are definitely looking at next gen musicians here and each of them represents a different school or style. It’s not often you get such fare in the comfort of your homes, thanks to the live streaming of these concerts provided by Hooghli. These youngsters are really worth serious listening…
