Truly a mammoth task considering the size of the board. But I know better how to maintain the database now, thanks to some education on shell scripting.
Thanks, Srkris. I hope the work was not too tedious.
I thought I would be the first one back. But the usual suspects are already active and posting! I have suffered from major rasikas withdrawal for the last few days. Especially in light of margazhi season and the rate of information being posted in the last several days.
well Nick, all your schoolboy prayers have been answered. Trust you will stick to your resolutions now (except the silliness part, of course). And TMK is not much of a writer anyway
Yes, thanks skris. A rudderless abandoned ship drifting at sea, now rescued. First a Forbidden 403 error, then 404, then a maintenance wait six hours that translated to 30 some hours... ... so a happy family reunited again ?
All you people are so so ungrateful....not a word of thanks to Pavithra for letting Kris to attend to this major problem, taking him away from her, so early in the married life!!! Well, on behalf of all of you and myself, a grateful thanks to Pavithra!
srkris
Testing with this post. Thanks for working hard to bring it back.May I know the reason of the site being down, if you could send me a private mail also it is fine?
When I first saw the message "Forbidden 403 error", I was convinced that it was the end of the road and pretty sure that my employers had AT LAST decided to block Rasikas which was posing a grave danger to a healthy balance sheet
Srkris's message subsequently came as a breath of fresh air !
If anyone had any doubt about how they, or others, valued this forum, the last four days have certainly shown us!
It's not as if there is nothing else to do on the net, far from it --- but it is that rasikas is my first and last port of call, with many other visits in between.
Shell scripts, eh? I'm glad that the site is held together with Shell (c? bourne? Bash? Korne? etc etc) as, apart from AWK, it is the only programming language I ever managed to actually get my head around. Forgotten most of it now, though...
Without the very recent assurances from skris about the ongoing life of the site, I would really have been seriously worried.
I guess it's a good thing that my wife has no idea how to install and administer a firewall :$
(Most of you know these verses from your daily mAdhyaHnikam sandhyA vandanam
In summary the invocation means that we enjoy Rasikas.org for (atleast) another 100 years!)
This is just a general comment, hope you like it. Do not fear the winds of adversity. Remember: A kite rises against the wind rather than with it. When in a tight corner I usually find that difficult moment has the potential to open one's eyes and open the heart. Every trial endured and weathered in the right spirit makes it stronger than it was before.
Yes, CML. A hundred years and more. Soon, technology will have the power to connect with the DD (dear departed) too in a while! Then we can also continue--to hover around?
Venkatakailasam,
An inspiring thought for the day...
I was blissfully unaware of all that which happened in the last few days as I myself was going thro a tough time; visiting the forum after nearly 10 days. going through the various threads at my own pace. Anyway, 'all's well that ends well'.
Srikris: Thanks for restoring OUR LIVES--Any Man who attends to Rasikas web site during his newly-minted married life is not paying as much attention to the SITE as he should!! Just kidding!!!
For your efforts an open invitation to NA(do not worry we will not ask you to sing or play an instrument)!!
Posterity would be eternally grateful--what a vanity on my part!!!!!
Thanks to srikrisji,
the sun has come back to our life.
Life was not the same without rasikas.com.
Best wishes to all rasikas for the festival of pongal.
.
Punarvasu....Sorry to read about hard times in the past months and am glad it is now over. Please put it behind you and look out at the bright future. All the very best.
Punarvasu,
Being well wishers--Isn't that one of the qualities of rasikas? Our love for music has brought us together as friends. When ill winds blow or harsh words are thrown about, it's our fellowship which makes us overcome them and helps us in growing stronger.
Punarvasu
Very true. Prayers from my well wishers has helped me tide over a serious crisis. I am quite confident to face my future boldly. I trust your problem was not health-related. If so some of us can help if you write us privately...
