Meaning .........

thuLLu madha vEL: The arrogantly pouncing Love God (Manmathan)

kaik kaNaiyaalE: is sending a barrage of flower arrows;

thollai nedu neelak kadalaalE: The blue seas are constantly causing distress;

meLLa varu sOlaik kuyilaalE: The cuckoo from the groves comes slowly and sings a tune in melancholy;

mey urugu maanaith: All these melt my deer-like daughter who is tormented by love.

thazhuvaayE: Will You not come and embrace her?

theLLu thamizh paadath theLivOnE: You are the learned Sampanthan capable of composing poems in chaste Tamil!

seyya kumarEsath thiRalOnE: You are the fair one named Kumaresan, the valorous!

vaLLal thozhu nyaanak kazhalOnE: You have the feet of knowledge which the Great Munificent Siva worships.

vaLLi maNavaaLap perumaaLE.: You are the Consort of VaLLi, Oh Great One!

(This song is based on the Nayaka-Nayaki Bhavam, where the poet, assuming the heroine's mother's role, expresses the pang of separation from the hero, Murugan. The God of Love Manmathan and His flowery arrows, the blue seas, the cuckoo are a few of the things that aggravate the agony of separation).

That is the well-known Tamil mythology from
Thiruchendur puraaNaM
Also refer to Arunagiri's kandaranubhUti
'chemmaan makaLai thiruDum thiruDan....'

Nayaka-Nayaki Bhavam, where the poet, assuming the heroine's mother's role,
It is indeed nAyaka-nAyaki bhAvam, but the Self seeking the Lord's embrace - the arrows of cupid are indicative of the aggravation of the longing.

vaLLal - This may either refer to Lord Siva who is called 'sONagiri vaLLal' (refer to Tamil Dictionary - http://dsal.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/romadi ... splay=utf8 ) or to King VaLLalan of Hoysala empire who was an ardent worshipper of Lord Arunachala - (refer to website - http://www.davidgodman.org/asaints/kvallalan1.shtml )
