Re: obscuretrojan
pb,
IMHO, it is not appropriate to pry into others' profile, and even if we happen to find out by chance, it is better not beat the drum, lest we face the same fate from others.Let us take people on their face value until they prove otherwise.

obscuretrojan:
Welcome to rasikas.org.
It was a temptation that I provided a link to another forum where you have provided the basic information about yourself under 'ABOUT ME'. I now realise that I should have waited for you to respond.
If you desire, you may use: 'Members' Stuff & Lounge > BRIEF PROFILE OF ALL RASIKAS'.

Re: obscuretrojan
Do we not have a member list/search function any longer?
We should be able to see the profile, brief details, posts/threads created by, etc etc stuff as per most boards.
Pratyaksham Bala, if you posted a link to a profile, please rertore it! This is not confidential or sensitive information.
Skris, whereas this sounds like a joke login name, and could well be a serious rasika with a sense of humour, google seems to know about a number of forums with members called obscuretrojan. Let's face it, criminals do not usually wear a name badge that says, criminal
but who knows! In the absence of an early sensible post from such an id, my one-time-moderator's instinct would be just to delete it. There are trojan/bot/malware risks to bulletin boards --- but I was a mod, not an admin, so I don't know the technical side

nick,
A public profile posted by member himself in this website is not a confidential information. That profile is meant for view by other members and not for display by others, without specific permission of that member. Moreover, if my profile, posted by me in some other website, is copied and posted in this website, that is highly objectionable. No one has such unfettered right. There is nothing called universal public profile. Every profile is specific to that website for which anyone has created. Let us not invade into the privacy of someone - and that too because we are curious about his identity.
I had tried to gently convince pb about what I felt strongly and he has been kind enough to accept my suggestion. If you insist on the link being restored, I will complain to the Admin about the inappropriateness of the action.
Let us not meddle into others' affairs. Let Admin and moderators deal with it if they have any such doubts about veracity of any member.

Re: obscuretrojan
I came late to the party. I don't know what pb had posted, because it had been removed already. I made an assumption that it was from this very site. I guess I was wrong.
However, the public nature of the internet is what it is, whether we like it or not, and it is very much the nature of the thing that what is posted on one site is then reflected on another. Whether that is all and entirely for the good is something we may debate, and it would be interesting. Unfortunately, what is done is done, and cannot be undone, but I know that if I could go back to the early days, I would not even think of making as many details of my life public as I have done.
Anyway, as for the current case: I poked my nose in without knowing what it was about.
Of course, if Mr Trojan is a serious member, he has my welcome as much as anyone does, and he has every right to whatever name he chooses, straight or humorous.
