In Sangeethapriya there is a version of this song rendered in Sahana raga by Dr Subhashini Parthasarathy.HariKrishna wrote:Mamaka Aparadha Satham (rAga: sAvEri, tALa: rUpakam)

My father-in-law who is quite old now, has a much much older Tamil book (the pages of which are almost dilapidated) - in that book there are compositions of Sri Narayana Teerthar - given with lyrics and meaning. Very important - for each of the composition there is a raga name mentioned in which it has to be sung.
THEN WHY ARE THERE SO MANY VERSIONS/TUNES IN DIFFERENT RAGAS FOR SRI NARAYANA TEERTHAR COMPOSITIONS.

I have re-presented the lines with hyphens to split up the compound words, and exclamation marks to indicate the end of a word.

tvayā - by You

You are wont to give splendid boons. You took several incarnations, out of mercy on your votaries, and you dispel the sources of delusion.

ādi-puruşa - original One!
anādhāra! - independent one!
nityada! - giver of the everlasting state!
jagadādhāra! - Substratum of the world!
nihnutāsura! - destroyer of demons
śruti-anta-vana-saňcāra! - You sport in the groves of Vedantic thought[1]
śobhana-phaladācāra! - You confer auspicious boons
bhŗtya-dayā-dhŗta-ākāra! - you took several forms out of compassion on your devotees
bhrama-kāraņa-vidāra!- You remove the root cause of confusion[2]
Notes -
1. I think it must be srutyanta-vana and not srutyananta-vana, though both are meaningful phrases.
2. Mostly a reference to mAyA.

Thanks Rajani, I suspect it seems good more because of tIrtha-nArAyana-yati's poetry, than because of anything I did.

Yes, makes a very beautiful read, Keerthi. One question : jagadādhāra : in the full translation it is "support of this universe" but in the phrase translation you say, substratum of the world. Is there a discrepancy ?

Re: Lyrics & Translation: mAmakAparAda shatam by Narayan Tir
jagat+AdhAra = world+basis = jagadAdhAra - could be the substratum as well.
