TNS ASK1(After sangeetha kalanidhi) concert was a mixed bag .Incidentally SKGS gave him the first chance for this jAmbhavAn on 1966 in the madras city.

Accompanied by TVK RAmanjujacharayulu - violin , Dr TK Murthy and B Sivaraman - Mridangam and Anirudh Athreya -Kanjira

Let me be brief (spent too much time today)
A typical TNS concert . vanajAkshi had problems with his voice , TK Murthy and TVK were all in their own route.quite impossible to appreciate anything good about the varnam. Voice didnot get that better till devagAndhari,no great experience till now.

His voice got better with tOdi ,alApanai was very good , neraval ok but swarams were in short burst and a different pattern involving quite a bit of kanakku.Shrutti settled only with tOdi for all in the stage.certainly the pakkavAdhyam were struggling.

RTP was excellent , wonderful voice control taking long alApanai flashes in relatively long breath cycle was a delight to watch . tAnam in high speed was excellent . The swara patterns were all excellent,quickly looping one after another.

Viruttam was again excellent epecially when he sang a line alli neer vennai in hamsAnandi.From bArO krishnayya nothing was too great.

Shri TK Murthy was not ok ,even though he managed a ok tani. B.Sivaraman was caught in a cycle where it was not clear when he had to play and when he had to give it to his guru.

Anirudh , though played not much , but had definitely good azhutham whenever he played.

i hope the line as mentioned by rajeshnat is a typo and TNS sang the correct sAhityam

'pankajAsanAdi dEva mahitam srI guruguha vihitam ramA sahitam' is correct .That is what I wrote in the notebook. It was little taxing to type the entire sahithya yesterday night .Instead I did a search and lifted that line from another source which had those lines. Not sure about the tAlam

Hameer Kalyani pallavi? Wow, and normally with Murthy mama on the side you would have thought, perfect!

Rajeshnat - Did Krishna sing with TNS as well? Cos the last concert I went he had Krishna singing with him. It was in Krishna Gana Sabha as well. And that time, it was the "old" Krishna Gana Sabha. There were about 30 people including me. A belting Mohanam for 30 mins with Kshemam Kuru Gopala. The main piece was Hindolam, Sama javara gamana for an hour and a half, which was breathtaking. TNS and Krishna on the swarams formed a brilliant team. Murthy mama followed beautifully, the violinist unfortunately was a spectator playing sa pa sa. The thani was astonishing.

The concert had only TNS singing , though there were few disciples (other than TNS Krishna) who were singing only to their Guru's ears.
