Could someone please post the sAhityam and meaning for this purandaradAsa composition?

naranAdamEle - nAdanAmakriya - purandaradAsa

I have a recording of Sri RK Srikantan's rendition of this krithi, in case anyone is interested.

Please post the recording.That will certainly help to clarify mAtu. And with Srikantan's clear enunciation, it will be great.

nAtharAmakriya is the rAga traditionally assigned to it. I have also heard this sung in pUrvikalyANi.

Beautiful stuff from the maestro. His voice is pliable and so full of verve even at an advanced age as demonstrated by the beautiful phrases he sings in the ugabhoga preceding the song.

Dr. Shrikaanth: could we have the meaning for the verses sung by Srikantan Sir?

Thanks Sriram
What a beautiful ugAbhOga sung as a prelude. And what bhAva? That is what one sees in a musician who sings from the heart. The mind functions automatically owing to the previous experience. Srikantan is certainly one of those rare musicians who has got to that point.

Meaning of the ugAbhOga
Is it possible to sing prasie of and surrender yourself to hari when you are born as a germ or a worm? Or when you were born as a monkey or a deer? Or as a donkey or a bear? Or even as a pig or a dog? Now beware of forgetting the travails of your previous lives! O mind! You have now obtained the body/birth of a human! Come now! Quick! Remember purandaraviThala wit devotion!

Srikantan sings the first two and the last caraNas. I am provinding the meanings here.

naranAda mEle hari nAma jihveyoLirabEku ||P||

naranu-man; Ada mEle- After havin become; harinAma- hari's name; jihveyoLu- in ones tongue; ira bEku must be there;

Having been born as a man, the name of hari must always be on ones tongue.

bhUta- all life; dayAparanu- compassionate; Agi ira bEku- must be endowed with; pAtaka ellava- all sins/bad deeds; kaLeyalu bEku- must give up/remove;
mAtu mAtige- word to word/ in every word; hariyenna bEku - must utter hari;

One must be compassionate towards all life; One must give up all bad deeds and sins; And in every word, one must utter hari.

Aru vargavanu- the gorup of six(ariShaDvarga of kAma, krOdha, lObha, mOha, mada, mAtsarya); aLiyalu bEku- must be decimated; mUru guNangaLa- the 3 guNas of sattva, rajas and tamas; mIralu bEku- one must overcome; sEri brahmanoLu- uniting with parabrahma; sukhisalu bEku- one must attain bliss;

One must supress the 6 enemies within, overcome the 3 guNas and attain bliss by uniting with the brahman.

bandaddu uNDu- taking what comes our way; sukhisalu bEku- one msut be happy/contented; nindA stutigaLa- berating and praise; tALalu bEku- one must tolerate;
tande- father/Lord; purandara viTTala; ena bEku- must say.

One must take what comes ones way and be happy; take both fame and infamy with equanimity and must ever utter purandara viThala.
