The sisters started out with the well known varnam in Sree. The Poornachandrika and Phalamanjari pieces were pleasant.
The Manoranjani aalaapanai was completely handled by Gayathri. She did an excellent job. Most of the swarakalpana was from her as well. Like cricket fans would say, she was in full form. Ranjani, on the other hand, not so much (it might just be my impression though).
After the rather long Purandaradasa piece, came the Kalyani. I've mentioned on other occasions that I'm not particularly fond of Kalyani. The sisters did very well with the raagam though (especially Gayathri again). Neraval and swarams were enjoyable. Some nice phrases sprinkled here and there.
The RTP in Abhogi was well handled. I was particularly fond of the pallavi in tishra gati. The raagamaalika easily contained some of the best moments of the concert. Absolutely adored Ranjani's Kuntalavarali and Gayathri's Revathi.
The first two tukkuda pieces were performed on request. The concert concluded with an abhang.
My personal opinion is that the raaga selection could have been a bit better. Felt like the first half of the concert went by in a breezy manner with Poornachandrika, Manoranjani etc. All the raagams were evoking the same kind of bhaavam. I do prefer concerts to have a bit of shoka rasam in them!

Wasn't very impressed by Sri. Ganesh Prasad. Something was just very 'off' for me the way he was playing. But I did feel his Kalyani aalaapanai from the taara sthaayi to the end was pretty good.
Sri. H S Sudheendhra has become a pleasure to listen to. Liked his performance today. The tani was kept very simple, but it made for good listening nonetheless. Sri. Narayanamurthy added beauty to the concert through his playing.
Overall, it wasn't a stellar concert, but quite a good one all the same.
