Cleveland goes on
The owners of this site closed the thread I started. No problem. Certainly some one went into the details of who might be rigging the contests. That is good enough to censor the press. I also wish the 3000 odd rasikas who read the site will donate at least one dollar.
My personal interest, no interest in competition, no interest in perfroming, in Cleveland is it is an esatblished organization and they should conduct the proceedings in such a way that they set an example to others. Be above board, be accountable and follow the dictum "justice should not only be done but should also appear to have been done". Many parents spent a lot of money to come to Cleveland to project their kids and the least we can do is to make sure they are satisfied with the conduct of the event. Don't worry about you and me who have peripheral interest.

Re: Cleveland goes on
Oh, come on! I've attended Cleveland for years now. Sure, there were times that I thought Child X deserved a prize and didn't get one, or Child Y got a prize that they didn't deserve. But well... that's why judges exist, and that is precisely why I'm not a judge. I think everyone would agree that a panel of professional musicians is quite capable of judging a music competition.
If you think Cleveland is fair, or if you don't care about prizes (and just want to go for the experience), attend the festival and have a blast. If you think it's unfair and rigged, start your own festival. You can be your own judges and give all your children their allegedly well-deserved prizes. Now there's a solution; if you don't like it, then don't attend. Let's not have this topic opened up at the same time every year. It's getting annoying and quite old!

I sympathize with you! But there are no takers for your views.
No use flogging a dead horse.
I will lock this thread in two days unless there are some useful constructive discussions..

I wonder who gave you the rights to dismiss him/her. I guess (doubt if) it is not within your ambit of powers as a member. The mods may either close the thread or warn him/her.Nick H wrote:Oh, do just go away....

Re: Cleveland goes on
Personally, it's not that I don't empathize with these views. It's just that this topic begins EVERY TIME Cleveland comes around, and the result has never been anything but "he said this," "she said this," etc. Finally, the problem remains unsolved, leaving behind even more frustrated people than before. Whoever is upset should either not involve themselves in the festival, or they should come up with a tangible (and realistic) plan to tackle the situation at hand. Maybe the judges could use mark sheets while judging and hand them back to interested participants after the results are announced? Something like that. Anything other than repeating the "Cleveland is rigged" line over and over, in vain.

when many other postings do not evoke response, I fail to understand as to why members rush to posting in this
crude and uncivilized thread which gets opened up like Ravana's head ?

As Cm lover mentioned - we are all flogging a dead horse - nothing can be done about this fact.
Rig - set up your own competition with like minded folks, and with time you will set the benchmark in the USA.

Personal opinion, only, from one who is not only very, very bored with these threads, but who also feels that at least two people, that I personally respect and have a high regard and liking for, are being maligned almost to the point of slander. I don't like that, and I'm saying so.
Your have the right to dislike what I say too!

Why dont we all maintain the dignity and good name of our forum by restraining from personal barbs against each other. Look at another thread idiot's guide to know when to begin after thani”Although the title appears funny, the thread contains very useful and educative information. Although it went high over my head, yet it looked like a course material for Masters course in Ethno Music- Mridangam course 101 in a top ranking university. But this thread, resurrected for a second innings, tends become a kuzAyadi sandai' Although I did not have the pleasure of attending the annual bash all these years, yet I know from the increasing number of participants that it is good and worth all the trouble and expense of making a visit. The gradual yearly increase in the number of visitors alone is ts best testimony.Let us not forget that even great masters like Sankara, Madhwa andb Ramanuja gave different opinions based on the same vedas, We ordinary mortals are sure to interpret identical situations differently based on our own biases. Forget the critics Let the Caravan move along May Sri Rama bless you all
