Deekshita Venkataraman a Carnatic Vocalist is a disciple of Prof. T.R.Subramaniam, Smt. Raji Gopalakrishnan and Smt. Shanti Jayaraman.

She has a very pleasing voice and clear diction. Her performance in the videos above is impressive. Did anyone listen to her during December season?

I had been to Deekshita's concert @ Srinivasa Sastri Hall organised by G.K Foundation. Thanks to my friend who diverted me from BVB to this venue.
She sang Dharmavathi - Parandhamavathi as sub main and Kadhanu Variki -Thodi as main.
Sri TRS and Clevland Sundaram were spotted.

She started the concert with Behag varnam and announced that was her Guru TRS composition. Varnam was very nice to hear
The concert was excellent and her Manodharma in Raga Alapana and Kalapana swaras were with a matured approach.
Her voice is very nice and reaches high and low instantly.

She sang Virutham from Abirami andhadi 5 verses in Ragamalika and blended into Karpakame in madyamavathi. Tamil diction is very good.

She has a bright future since she has all the required aspects . Mainly the Kalapramanam for each krithi is good.( Sarasadalanayana - Kamas was soul filling)

incidentally this concert review was published in Dinamani on 5-Jan-11.

I'm performing under the auspices of the Music Education Trust held at Sri Parvathi,Eldams Road , the theme being "Contemporary Vageyyakaras".
I'm singing the compositions of Madurai G.S.Mani at 6.30 on 2nd March. The concert will be graced by G.S.Mani mama. I will be accompanied by Meera Sivaramakrishnan on the violin and Ramkumar on the mridangam!.Please grace the concert with your presence.

Very very nice to hear that. Is that an exclusive GS Mani compositions concert. Atleast apart from his most popular nALai varum enru nambalAmA? in chandrakowns,gambheera gajanAyaka in - nAttai and that particular rajendra kanye girisuthe gambeera mAlini in shuddha sArang is all I recollect.

GSM sir is a composer who always sits in the crossroads of HM and CM.In one of the concerts he presented this suddasArang as a main in 2006. Please audio record it for better prosperity and let it reach the sangeethapriyA , if your family is ok.

Also Sriparvathi has just 25 seats , you may get a full house for sure.

. Hope apart from gsm sir even TRS mamA + smt raji gopalakrishnan is there , pictures of all musicians in the hall will be wonderful

Concert was excellent! Kharaharapriya and Keeravani were both very well done. But there was a surfeit of tamil songs. IIRC, GSM has quite a few Telugu and may be even Sanskrit songs to his credit.

Yet another great concert by Kum.Deekshita for Saraswathi vaggeyakara Trust celebrating Trinity day @ Naradha Gana Saba on 25-Mar-11. She was accomapanied by K.J.Dileep on Violin , N.C.Bharadwaj Mirudangam.

Pahimam Sree- Natai with Malkalam swaram
Kamalamba - Anandhabhairavi with short Alapana
Sree raguvara- Kambodhi with Superb alapana and swaram
Jambupathe- YamunaKalyani
Meevallaguna- Kapi
Emanimikula- Thodi with elaborate Bhava laden alapana Niraval and swaram
Kamalambike – Sri

Her Yamunakalyani was soulful with perfect diction. Shyamasastri krithi Emanimikula is unheard one.

K.J.Dileep disciple of MSG was supportive and N.C.Bhradwaj's Tani was awesome.
Perfect team work of all three made this concert wonderful listening experiance.

I just saw the interview of yours , well done . I also did not know about your sister supraja who plays violin. The compere yugi did a great job in interviewing you, your sister and kaushik the mrudangam artist.

I saw from swagatham krishna(mohanam ), purahara nandana(hameer kalyani) and Besh "thAyin mani kOdi" . The gavati explanation of yours was well done , felt you were not hitting the right notes there when you sang gavati(If I could be a yuvi for a minute, may I just say "romba pEsinA pAttu will go for a toss").

On a side note , I did not know you for many years , even though I did know your dad Venkatraman. I had a vague recollection of you after listening to your first concert with a photo of you in a crowd of rasikas. I do know it is you in navy blue dress in center , is that your sister(supraja in light green dress) who is seated next to you. Look at the below link for the photo reference.

In the post # 27, item 3 gives the link to the song ayiram ayiram. The description under the video credits the song to Ambujam Krishna. The song is actually by Nila Ramamurti. It is in her book Krishna Prema Ganam (1967) on page 19.

I just had time to hear 3 songs , pantuvarali and brindavanasaranga was well done. Especially in the second half of swaras in pantuvarali, your voice kind of resembles your guru Smt Raji Gopalakrishnan and TRS mama also starts the same way the pantuvarali swaras. In sogasuga the krithi tempo could have been bit more faster, in swaras again I could spot the TRS way of splitting swaras and then rendering sogasuga then another flash of swaras with mrudanga and then another flash of swaras with talamu, I liked that.

Nice rendering of My favorite Raga Natakapriya and excellent Krithi of Mysore Vasudevachariyar's "Ithusamayamu" . She has handled this tricky raga nicely in Alapana. I wish that she should render Tanjore Sankara iyer's Master piece "Geetha Vadhya" in her concert.
