Re: Request for Swathitirunal lyrics
Swati tirunal has composed a kriti with pallavi pAlaya sadA mAmayi mAdhava but it is in darbAr. Similarly no kriti is in vogue in vakuLABaranam by him.

Re: Request for Swathitirunal lyrics
Lakshman,
sAdhu tadA at some point was tuned/sung in vakuLAbharaNam by BMK, I think. The joy of KuchEla on seeing such transformation in the woman he left behind in penury, now transformed into such beauty and splendor--as he sees her as he returns home after meeting his childhood friend--is brought out effectively in this version. Such a lovely rAgam too, suitable for a dramatic moment like this. I haven't heard it sung in tODi though. I could visualize the scene vividly when I heard it sung for the first time by Sanjay a few years ago.

Hope Rajani/Keerthi find a chance to work on this translation. Looking forward to the beautiful scene described by Arasi.

I hope so too. Meanwhile, you can read Dr. Govinda Rao's translation of the lyrics at the Swati Tirunal website.

Re: Request for Swathitirunal lyrics
Ah so? I had heard that his guru had tuned it. Guru or disciple, the rAgam conveys the impact of the scene the way it is sung. If it's Rama Varma's, then I would say, he was inspired by the beauty of his ancestor's creation too!

Re: Request for Swathitirunal lyrics
S_P : this is indeed an unusual scene. Here is my attempt
sapadi - At once
tadA - then,
sAdhuh - the good man
dadarsha - saw
nija bhAminIm - his wife
vimOhinIm - (who was looking) enchanting
paricaritAm - (who was) served
vAdya gIta vara vanitA nikaraih - by groups of ladies playing superior music on instruments,
ati vilAsinIm -( and who) had various kinds of splendour
ramaNa nirIkSANa sambhrama - Out of surprise/excitement of seeing her beloved,
gaLaduru bhASpa mukhIm - (she who had) copious tears rolling down on her face
mrdu hAsinIm - (and was also) smiling softly
panjakanAbha krpAmrta varSAd - due to the shower of nectar of the mercy of Krishna,
amara vadhUmiva bhASinIm - (she who was) resplendent like a lady from Devaloka

Lovely, Rajani. A great scene brought to life from Swati Tirunal's imagination.

Pointers to any audio links would add to this. Or if someone can upload on mediafire...

Re: Request for Swathitirunal lyrics
Sanjay has sung this in Charsur CD 'padmanAbha', with two more caraNams. Sorry, he mashes up the words a bit/or I am not familiar with those words. Here is what I got. He has sung slowly with a lot of emotion.
2. ramaNa - he sings as karuNa
3. sakalAbharana vibhUshana dehAm .... ..... .....
4. manasA nija pada ...manam sahasA pracayanthi gaja gAminim
5. pankajanAbha (mudra caranam as given earlier)

Rajani, it sounds like:
manasA nija pada namanam sahasA pracayanthi gaja gAminim
(in her) mind-true-(holy)feet-saluting-immediately-collected-?-?? (her royal maids?)

Thanks arasi and s-p.
E-s : I am unable to decode this. Gaja-gamini is a lady who has the majestic gait of an elephant ( as in "kunjara-gamanE" of Kanja-dalaayataakshi).

Re: Request for Swathitirunal lyrics
Thanks Rajani, I consulted Monier-Williams dictionary for pracaya. I get two possibilities.
In the mind of the lady with elephant-like gait (or now-royal lady thanks to the munificence of the dark hued Lord), salutations to the holy feet immediately grew on seeing her husband.
or
True worship of the Lord's holy feet
(resulted in) immediate growth of (plenitude) the royal lady.
