caraNam 1: To the face of the lady jalajAkshi, one with eyes like lotus petals, and to her pert breasts, benediction with camphor (karpooram). To her mass of hair (aLivENi, one with hair dark), thick like a swarm of dragonflies (tummedalu), and to her lotus hands, benediction with gems.

rambhOru means Uru (thighs) that are smooth and shapely like banana(rambhA) stems.
araTi is the word for plaintain, and jaghana is used to refer either to the hips, the loins or the buttocks.aridi jaGhanambulaku: to the thighs like the plantain trunk
Broad hips are supposed to be a sign of fertility and thereby(?) beauty.
terms like pRthu-shROnI and ghana-jaghana vouch for this.
janghA means thigh.
ali is surely bee and not beetle. the name is derived from ala meaning sting, and the formation like chakrI or shankhI, implies 'one who has a' sting. The name is applicable to scorpions etc, but is most popularly used for bees.alivENi turumunaku: to the tresses,black as beetles
kisalaya and pallava refer to tender leaf sprouts (tuLiR and kozhundu in Tamizh, tene? and chiguru in kannaDa; chiguru is used in telugu as well)carana kisalayamulaku:to the pair of lotus like feet

Adiva/ ativa - I'm not sure of the term, i would tend towards the former, sanskRt poetry speaks of a low navel [nimna-nAbhI = deep naveled ->concave bellied->slender] and this may be a similar usage.ativa nija nABhikini: to the navel of the dEvi
In the day, she fulfils her role of the chief consort (paTTA-mahiSI), and in the night, her wifely role (skills). This is a touching account of the agam and puram roles as the housewife and the creatrix of the world etc.pagatu SrI venkatEshu patapuraNivai: in the day the queen of SrI venkatEsha

to her goodnesses/ to all her virtues. [cakkatanam = nallatanam, sadguNa-s]cakkadanamulakella: and her graceful figure
karpurapu/ mutyAla/ mAnikyamula/ ShOBhanapu nIrAjanam - refer to the various kinds of hArati that are waved, using lamps, camphor, pearls and rubies(latter sometimes substituted by corals); and accompanied by the singing of the sObhana.
It was common practise till recent times, for royalty to perform hArati, driSTi-nivAraNa and rakSA, by waving precious gems in front of the person(s) and then giving the gems away.
The same practise is reflected in the marital ritual of waving fists-ful of coloured rice in front of the couple, and then scattering them in the various directions as an offering the benign and malefic spirits governing the directions.

I think the lasting value of rasikas lies in the fact that we are able to create a fairly accurate corpus of critically examined lyrics and translation. We should look towards archiving all of this material - rshankar's poetic and Rajani's meticulous translations, and all the other translations that we have, in a better pruned, searchable format like govindan sir's opus.

Enjoyed a lot, Smt. Savitri's elegant translation and Keerthi's added detailed insights and descriptors. This is very sensual, a picturesque description of Sri Devi by Annamaya.

S-P many of Sri annamayya's compositions are padams (that clearly come under the category of erotic love poetry) - but he only talks about sensual love between his lord of the seven hills and 'taruNi' alamElumanga, unlike later composers who described carnal love between mortals and the lord (like SivadIkshA that Keerthi likes!) and finally between two mortals...Sri annamayya has a composition (that escapes my memory currently) where he describes the disheveled state the sakhis find alamElumangA in, after a night of love making, that is rather graphic - but his poetry is always elegant and eloquent IMO, not crass and crude.

Annamacharya's poems were divided into two major categories, the "Sringara" or erotic and the "adhyaatma" or metaphysical, and these divisions are already in the copper plates. In the preface, Dr. Velcheru says "The former, which comprise nearly three quarters of the entire surviving corpus, deal with the infinite varieties and nuances of the god's love life; usually these are couched in the female voice. The adhyatma poems are sung in the poets own voice and deal with his sense of himself as an agonized turbulent human being in relation to the god he worships".

Sreenadh, the one you posted is certainly of the category that I was alluding to - but the one I was referring to, specifically, was palukutenela talli (I first saw/heard the song was part of a dance performance that I reviewed previously)....
