I was very happy to see this thread. This song was rendered in TVM Radio in the seventees in the ragam Tilang, I vaguely remember. Subsequently Radha Jayalakshmi sang it in Sindubhairavi in various concerts and popularised it.

C1: mOr pinch kaTikachAni rAjE kara murali ur mAl lAse

P: KrSNa candra rAdhA man mOhan mErE man mO virAjO ji
O kRSNa who is as cool as the moon, the one who captivated the heart of sRI rAdhA, do come and reside in my heart.

C1: mOr picch kaTikachAni rAjE kara murali ur mAl lAse
phaNivar kE par nirat karat prabhu dEv munIshvar gagan basE
You are adorned with the peacock feather. A small cloth beautifies your waist, the flute is situated in your hands and your broad chest has the decoration of a garland. O Lord! You dance gracefully on the serpent kAliyA as the sages and devatas behold in the upper skies.

2: hAth jOD sab nAg vadhUjan karE binati haricaraNan sE
chODO hamArE prItam kU ham Ancha dhOvEn sE
The wives of the serpent pray at your feet with their hands folded. They say "Do spare our beloved as we are extremely sad at his condition."

3: padmanAbh prabhu phaNi parashAyi kabayi na jaiyO citvan sE
aisi lIlA kOTi tumhAri nahin kahi jAvE kavijan sE
O lotus naveled Lord who reclines on the serpent ananta, please do not move away from my sight! Thus are your amazing in-numerous deeds which cannot be completely described by the poets!

Shouldn't citvan be 'mind' and not sight?
CRama - is there an audio link to Smts. R&J singing this is in sindhubhairavi (I guess it was composed in this originally, becasue, IIRC - HM bhairavi = CM sindhubhairavi, right?). Do you know who retuned it in tilang? I can imagine this in tilang, more than in sindhubhairavi...

padmanAbh prabhu phaNi parashAyi kabayi na jaiyO citvan sE
aisi lIlA kOTi tumhAri nahin kahi jAvE kavijan sE
O lotus naveled Lord who reclines on the serpent ananta, please do not move away from my sight!

Maybe here the poet/rasika is asking the Lord not to leave the dense forests or the heart of the jungle (citvan) as suggested in Bhojpuri, where he loves to roam and to sport with his numerous endearing lIlas... the second line, to me, see suggests this. The use of chitwan/chitvan is like madhuban/madhuvan.

From Wiki :

....
The name Chitwan is a composite of the Sanskrit words चित्त, transliterated "citta" meaning heart and वन, transliterated "vana" meaning jungle or forest.[1][2] Thus, the meaning of Chitwan is Heart of the Jungle.

S-P - I think Krishnaa is right about citvan (if you remember the song candan sA badan, where the heroine's beuaty is being described, the second line is cancal citvan....followed by her slow smile)...and my interpretation of those lines is that the poet is asking for the lord to not leave his line of vision, because there is no other way to experience the Lord's lIlas - other than to actually see them, for he feels that even poets with their great felicity for words fall flat and fail when it comes to describing the Lord's wondrous deeds....

rs,
visions are external and internal. The internal vision is far superior to external which is based on gross perceptions. IMHO, sp is right about 'citvan' - only that instead of 'jungle' I would substitute 'grove'.

citvan means sight... when we use adjectives like bAnkI citvan etc in bhajans... it directly means incomparable sight.. Ravi's example is also good...
cit means heart and van means forest separately... the two dont join to mean the forest of the heart... in hindi and brajabhasha citvan is for sight... :)
as i said before i will look for a suitable example and post it...

Indran, you are welcome. :)

krishna is right -
चितवन चितवन से मिली, बदले सारे रंग,
गोरी के गालों खिले, फागुन के सब रंग।
'citvan' means sight (nazar) - http://www.anubhuti-hindi.org/kavi/s/sa ... a/prem.htm

I have to download the version CRama uploaded (thank you!), but the youtube version is so much at variance with my internal vision for this composition - kRshNa poised to kill kALiya, and his wives pleading for his life, and merciful lord sending him away with his life intact...the drama seems to be lost in that 'mAtA jAgran' type of rendition in sindhubhairavi! :)

Listening to both, my feeling was similar to krishnaa; but I liked radha jayalakshmy rendition, perhaps the accent was tamilian!

Several corrections needed after listening to Radha-Jayalakshmi.

Krishnaa, here's one with the captivating look/gaze sung by Yesudas:

chanchal naina mohini chitvan janam janam tarsaaye
