There is a news item in the Tamil paper Dina Malar that Kalai Mamani Seerkazhi R Jayaraman
expired on 30-04-2011 at the age of 80 years.
Kalaimamani Seerkazhi R. Jeyaraman is receiving the award from CM:

Sirkazhi mama, as he is fondly remembered, is a gem of Carnatic Music. His "shuddha" pAdandhiram from Sri.Satur AGS is clear from his concerts. Recently he had been Dubai and did give few concerts in the last Dec season.

I stayed in the house below for 2 years, (he was staying in first floor). It was in Velayudha Raja Street near Mandaveli Bus Stand. His "GanEEr" voice" while taking classes for his disciples was a delight to hear. As a family friend and shared golden moments with him, it is a personal loss for me. He really suffered, during his last days, due to acute cancer.

* As secretary of Thiagaraja Vidwat samajam he used to conduct Thiagaraja aradhana,organise 10 minutes concerts,organise Akandam.The way he used to conduct was not to give musicians a fixed time slot but eveyone was to sing 4/5 kritis &wait for next turn after couple of hours& so on-in this process everyone had a chance &was obliged to listen to others throughout the Akandam night.His pick&drop service provided to the participants used to be professional.
*I was fortunate to be with his company whenever I was accompanying my guru Sri.Chingleput Ranganathan to Kanchi&Thiruvaiyaru akandam.
*He was a very cheerful &simple person.
*When I had invited him last year for a pancharatnam he obliged saying "ennala mudiyale.nee kooptathukaga varein".At that time he was looking healthy having recovered from a setback.*I remember "maakelara vicharamu "used to be his favourite in Akandam. The way he used to conduct Anjaneya Utsavam with Namavali during street procession is still green in my memory.
*I used to feel the Divine aura in his modest house in the Ist floor .I feel sad for his ever supportive&brave wife.
